2 issues clarified for Intel iGPU users
Dear all,
I've just wanted to share with you some answers received from Eric Gur (the Intel spec who implemented QuickSync decoder in FFDShow): 1. Regarding loss of a/v sync in case of pause / resume or search when QuickSync decoder is used: Egur already identified the bug and version 0.35 has been issued: "............................................................................................... I just managed to reproduce the a/v sync so your system is fine. I'll post again when I have a root cause or fix. Update 1: a/v sync occurs in 64 bit MPC-HC, 32 bit is fine. Update 2: Found the bug - caused major corruptions in 64bit after seeks as well as occasional a/v sync issues. I'll fix the ffdshow GUI and release. Update 3:Version 0.35 beta is out with the following changes: * Bugfixes - mostly in 64bit playback. * FFDShow rev4462 with improved QuickSync config Update 4: One happy user after update: "Just tried 0.35 beta and it now works perfectly with my Ivy Bridge 64 bit set-up and 2696 driver. No more blocking artifacts and losing A/V sync on chapter skips and seeking." ................................................................................................" 2. Regarding usage of QS with LAV video decoder in WMC (MCE7): "................................................................................................ Update 1: Regarding LAV+QS: MCE is special player with respect that it's the only player that works in Direct3D full screen exclusive mode. This special mode (usually found in games) do not allow creation of DXVA/D3D HW devices unless very specific conditions occur. When LAV decoder queries the QS decoder if it can play the movie, QS will return that it can't (can't create a HW device). FFDShow ignores this check (my ugly patch so MCE would work). Actual HW device is created after the renderer is connected, later on in the initialization flow. Update 2: I'll ask the LAV developer to support QS in MCE, but he might have other things on his mind. It may require substantial code changes... ................................................................................................." Shark I'm hardly waiting for you to release a new version of Codec Pack with the new FFDShow 4462 and see if at least one of my problems is over. Regards, IM |

Hello again Shark,
Can you please tell me when you intend to issue a new version of the Codec Pack with the above bug fix? Thanks a lot in advance, IM |

RE: 2 issues clarified for Intel iGPU users
Update:Another happy user after installing 3.6.5. The bug disappeared but only when LAV splitter is enabled instead of Haali. In WMC I still have one movie with a very slight delay (nothing to bother too much) but in MPC-HC everythinh is perfect now.
