2 n00b questions! Help please
1) I usually install the Sharky Codecs in the Following order, please let me know if I am doing it right or there is a better way to do it (PS: I do not have Media Center or WMP installed)
a) Install Win7Codecs b) Install x64 Components c) Install MPC-HC (Sharky's preconfigured version) Is that it? Or do I need to manually do anything else with regards to the settings? 2) I heard someone say, that in order for you to make use of your GPU hardware acceleration, you must choose the LAV filter for playback, now I have a tool called Win7DSFilterTweaker v5.1, and when I run that, it allows me to set the LAV filter for everything, but shall I do that? Is what he said true? So what about the Sharky preconfigured version of MPC? they seem to be using the basic Microsoft filters because when I run the Win7DSFilterTweaker it shows that everything is using Microsoft, (correct me if I'm wrong), so I fail to see what the pre-configured version of MPC or the Sharky Codecs is doing if Win7DSFilterTweaker is saying everything is set to play using the Microsoft filters by default Thank you for the reply in advance |

RE: 2 n00b questions! Help please
installation order is unimportant. (as I previously told you in an email)
The Klite tool, Win7DSFilterTweaker, is only for the Windows players (WMP and Media Center) and has no effect what-so-ever on MPC-HC. (this player is usng LAV for audio and video) My settings application does whatever that tool does, so I do not recommend its use. Your i7 processor is no slouch. Use it. There is no need to pursue hardware decoding. Go watch some video's. |
