AAC Audio
I am a very cautious user and try not to make changes unless I understand the implications. I have a Win7 64 bit machine and I find that Shark007 is installed. I use MediaPortal for live and recorded TV
I understand from other forums that for broadcast channels here in the UK that use AAC 5.1 audio, for MediaPortal I need to use ffdshow. In MediaPortal configuration for AAC it is set to LAV. There is no option under AAC for ffdshow in my MediaPortal (although it is under some other headings). I have changed some settings in the non-64 bit version of Shark and these changes are effective. I also understand that to force the system to use ffdshow I need to disable the Microsoft codecs under the Swap menu. My simple question (as a cautious user) is this: if I click 'disable', will the menu subsequently change to 'enable' if I need to go back! Thanks |

LAV is the default audio decoder in my releases. To change that to FFDshow, on the Audio TAB, click the button to [disable LAV audio] (04-28-2012 07:33 AM)Branksome Wrote: In MediaPortal configuration for AAC it is set to LAV. I would assume that making the change in my 1st response will cause ffdshow to show up as an option in MP. Something that may be useful to MP (and LiveTV use) is the PDVD12 decoders. There is one on the H264 TAB and another on the MPG~MP4 TAB You may need to disable the Microsoft Video decoder on the SWAP TAB to get MP to use the PDVD12 decoders |

Thank you for your reply. I have disabled LAV for audio in Shark but MediaPortal still insists on using it and is not offering the ffdshow for AAC. I will take this up on the MediaPortal forums Thank you for you other advice which I will try ou in due course |
