AVI (Xvid) not playing on WMC7 x64
first of all a big thanks to shark007. Hopefully people like you, will never leave the internet...
2nd, I got this frustrating problem: i dont know much about codecs and filters. I downloaded and installed (as administrator) the settings application and also the x64 settings. Nevertheless, i cannot play the file at all. MPC plays it fine, even switching between the two audio tracks is possible, so why does WMP not do the same??? I attached a gspot analysis of the file. Please, maybe somone can help me and tell me how to set up win7codec(x64) in order to get my Media Center to work how it should be... i appreciate! Windows 7(MC) x64 P4 640HT ATI 4350 2GB Ram |

RE: AVI (Xvid) not playing on WMC7 x64
1st of all, you need to use the latest versions.
Get both x86 version 235 and version 239 for x64. MajorGeeks is the best place to get current releases. Uninstall of current installations can ONLY be performed using the button provided on the Help TAB. If you already have these versions installed, Press Reset All... then After installing the latest versions, at the bottom of BOTH settings applications, choose to use the SUGGESTED settings If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software
Default UAC settings are required for my software to function properly |

I have that running: the x86 235 version installed as admin and the x64 package v239 installed as admin after the 235 install. Used: "Reset all" on both applications. One after the other. Then selected "suggested setting" on both applications. Was told, that wmp is now default player for all files which is fine... BUT no success... still doesnt play the mentioned avi. Sorry to say, but i had K-crap codec package installed once and the video played, although with 2 audio streams playing at the same time, but it did. I uninstalled k-crap as i wanted to have one single codec package installed (decision was your package) but now i cant watch the movie anymore... ![]() Strange, isnt it? RE: AVI (Xvid) not playing on WMC7 x64
On the AVI TAB select Gabests splitter.
For media center, use the x64 app, for other players, use the 32bit app. If that works, the real issue is the files themselves. Go to my tools page and get DivFix++. Load your avi into that program and press the Fix button. Most likely this will also fix the thumbnails. Afterwards you should be able to return the splitter to Microsoft and still play the files. For the multiple audio streams you may have to also select FFDshow for MP2/3 on the SWAP TAB so that you can rightclick on the blue tray icon and select what track you want to listen to. If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software

RE: AVI (Xvid) not playing on WMC7 x64
Thanks for your help, but unfortunately still no luck....
Gabest didnt help, made the setting in both applications. DivXFix++ reports a problem when starting to fix stating it cannot find the current position in the file. Thing is, that i already had this brilliant movie working on WMP. Sure, there is a solution to it but i dont want to change settings in your application without understanding all the consequences... RE: AVI (Xvid) not playing on WMC7 x64
could you provide a sample for testing?
IF your sample is larger than 40MB an easy to use tool called DGSplit is available from my tools page to help you create a 40MB sample. Once you have prepared the sample upload it to mediafire.com and place the download URL here. If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software

There you go:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/mfghzqttyt0/Test.avi Really appreciate your support. Another question would be, if there is any way to use a hotkey or so in order to swap between adio streams in WMC or WMP? (As Media Center runs in fullscreen mode and i would like to switch this option from my couch...) Windows 7(MC) x64 P4 640HT ATI 4350 2GB Ram |

RE: AVI (Xvid) not playing on WMC7 x64
Thanks for testing. Well then it has to do something with my settings nevertheless... strange. I will uninstall everything again, restart windows, install again (as administrator? or is this not required?)
and see again... will report back when i can! i will post when troubleshooting was successful and how... Edit: Have the file running just fine on my Vista 32bit with K-Crap but thats no solution... Windows 7(MC) x64 P4 640HT ATI 4350 2GB Ram |
