Hmm... normally mkv does take longer to generate, but certainly not 1-2 seconds each. My mkv files generally takes about 200ms to generate each. Some longer. CPU usage area of 20-60% while generating, is probably normal with your CPU (about the same as mine). The fact that your mouse can't move while your CPU is at ~50%, is on the other hand, disturbing. I have the same problem here with mkv files FullHD (1080p) when the Icaros generates thumbnails. The Phenom II X4 works with 100% load on all cores. Sometimes it also happens with HD mkv files (720p). See this image: ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits |

RE: About Icaros
It really all comes down to, how much your CPU can handle.
I have a fairly old CPU; Intel Q6600 2.4Ghz, and all my 1080p videos take about a second to generate a thumb and peaks the CPU to around 90% for a brief period. Still, it doesn't slow down my system in any way. Processing high def material demands a good amount of power, that's really the issue. The good thing about thumbnailing is, it only needs to be done once (in a while). In the latest revision of LAV, a new matroska parser has been implemented, that might improve the situation a bit. This build also fixes any problems concerning broken mkv files. ;-) OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 |

RE: About Icaros
I am getting clr.dll errors and explorer.exe crashes (happens randomly) while browsing a folder with lots of video files. The folder is in tiles view. Any advice?

Have you registered any optional extensions? Do you use ffdshow for decoding? I have fixed a bug since 1.2.5, that caused some quite rare random crashes. This new build will be released soon. So now only the default is registered (.mkv, .ogm) but still get clr errors sometimes. I use only lav filters (0.40) for decoding. Waiting for new build then. |

RE: About Icaros
sometimes if you move or open a file in a folder when thumbnails are being generated, explorer crashes.
