RE: About Icaros
Shiro, just out of curiosity, is UAC disabled for all of your tests?

Also I have to say I have nothing more installed. So is like Windows clean install + Icaros 2.0 beta2 = it doesn't work |

RE: About Icaros
Shiro, while I have your attention,
please check for this path's existance... (X = the windows installation) X:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319 (doesnt matter if its x64 or not, it should still exist) I think it exists by default on Windows 8 (not 100% sure) and needs to be installed on all other versions of Windows. This exact path is important to Icaros. Also, you are aware that Icaros, by default, only thumbs MKV and OGM? For other filetypes, the extensions need to be added to the optional filetypes box |

Also yes, I am aware of the default extensions so I'm trying with a folder full of mkv's. While I'm testing more I just realized my environment is somewhat particular. For example I'm using Windows 8 inside a VHD with native boot (not a virtual machine). My folder full of Mkv happens to be in a external USB HDD. Also in some tests I'm using Windows to Go feature which makes possible booting a full windows 8 from a USB harddrive in any PC with USB booting enabled. I think I'll have to do more tests in next days. |

Icaros doesn't use the PATH environment variable for anything, in case you were wondering. ;-) (03-20-2012 12:40 PM)Shiro Wrote: While I'm testing more I just realized my environment is somewhat particular. This could possibly have an effect on the behaviour of Icaros. One of the current limitations of using FFmpeg, is that Icaros cannot thumbnail files at UNC paths (like network paths). I'm not saying this is what's happening here, but perhaps Windows represent its paths differently when booted from an USB. OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 |

RE: About Icaros
Well, I downloaded beta 3 and installed it right over my previous version (v1.3). I do have thumbnails generating which is great.
My issue is that, the speed hasn't really improved for me and I'm wondering why. I opened Icaros config just to double check the version: "Icaros 2.0.0" so it did update correctly. I don't mean the generating of 1 thumbnail is slow. I mean an entire folder's worth of 10 bit mkv videos. It takes 2-3 seconds for each thumbnail and I don't think it should take that long. I have Win 7 Home x64 i3 with 4 gigs of RAM |

Well, at least it's some progress. Did you re-activate Icaros after the upgrade finished? If you take a look in the registry, what's the default value for this key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mkv\shellex\{e357fccd-a995-4576-b01f-234630154e96} OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 |
