RE: About Icaros
xankazo,
Hmm... That's the first I've heard of problems on Win8. I haven't had any time yet to test Win8 for myself, but both Shark007 and Shiro has been so kind to test Icaros on Win8, and until now, they've only reported positive feedback. I fully trust their testing results. So, to figure why it currently doesn't work for you, I need a bit more info. What edition of Win8 did you test on? What version of Icaros? Is it thumbnailing or properties that doesn't work? or both? FlyingHorse, dsar, I managed to reproduce the error you both described, but before I start looking into it, I will try to get another beta out with all the recent additions and fixes. RE: About Icaros
Icaros works with me in Windows 8 32-bit CP with active Windows 8 Media Center (WMC8) very well.
Only very few problem-videos are not displayed, but they run not even in Windows 7! @xankazo, did you WMC 8 already installed? AMD A6-3650 with HD6530 graphics * XP MCE 2005, Windows 7 x86 + x64 + 8 x64 * PowerDVD 12 + 13 |

RE: About Icaros
Sorry for not posting details, it was late last night and was mad sleepy.
I'm using Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation x64, so no WMC. It is the exact same as RTM but with a 90 days free activation for evaluation purposes. I tried the Icaros 2.1 beta 2. What doesn't work are thumbnails for any format added. Windows 8 already displays 3gp, mp4, avi, wmv, thumbnails just fine. The properties work. OS: Windows 8 Pro (x64) |

RE: About Icaros
xankazo,
Sorry for not getting back to you yesterday. I'm currently focusing on finishing up a couple of things, so I can get another beta out to all of you, therefore I'm postponing any further testing of recently reported problems until after the next release. It looks like the Enterprise version of Win8 only deviates slighty from the Basic or Pro versions. I didn't notice anything, that would seemingly create conflicts with Icaros (especially since the default thumbnailing works), so I may have to grab a copy of Win8 Enterprise to figure out the cause of the issue. Assuming that the Enterprise edition is the only edition with problems. HD-False, Thanks for the confirmation! Saved me some worry. ;-) OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 |

RE: About Icaros
I have same issue as xankazon only properties work and not the thumbnails. I can't get Icaros working on my Windows 8 Pro RTM.
Icaros worked fine on Windows 7 and Windows 8 Release Preview but It doesn't work on the RTM. Only default thumbnails working (avi, mp4...) but not for mkv. I tried to clear cache, active and deactivate several times but isn't working. What can I do for get it working? I added screenshot of the problem. |

RE: About Icaros
Hmm... interesting. So it's actually an RTM bug?
It looks like there has been a couple of 'Under the hood' changes to Explorer from RP to RTM (such as the removal of Aero). Perhaps one of these changes is the culprit. I might PM/Mail you and xankazo later with a couple of questions, if that's okay? OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 |

Thanks nyyu,
Btw, although I don't think it matters, what version of Win8 Pro do you use; 32-bit or 64-bit? OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 |
