Advice please...
Hi, do you think the following problems might be solved if I install your codec pack? Currently have k-lite plus some extras... !?
I am having problems with .mov playback in windows media player, play fine in mpc and also fine if rename .hdmov, is this because one is using ffdshow and other media foundation? Also powerpoint (32 bit) will not insert .mov or many mpeg2's when saved as a pptx (2010) file but will if ppt saved as a ppt (2007) file first? Is this the same problem? I assume your pack uninstalls any codecs present that may conflict? thanks Using Windows 7 64 bit |

RE: Advice please...
If UAC is disabled, set it to the Default position and reboot.
please do your best to uninstall any codec installations on your own before installing my releases. here are download URL's to the latest releases: x64Components addon _______ 32bit Win7codecs Use the [x] SUGGESTED settings checkbox in both Settings Applications. Test your MOV files at this time. If not working as you wish, try setting a different splitter om the MOV~OGG TAB be aware, the 64bit Settings Application only affects playback in Media Center. most other players are affected using the32bit app. My crystal ball is in the shop for repairs - I have no idea how powerpoint is going to behave. if you need assistance after following the above advice, please ask . . . |

Thanks for very promt reply.
As PowerPoint is used by so many to play video files in presentations I thought you might have some experience of your codecs relationship to it, but I also realised I was risking getting a witty reply! Is there any point in installing the 64 bit codecs if I don't use Media Center? |

Windows Explorer is also 64bit requiring 64bit codecs to produce thumbnails for files such as MKV. It will also enable use of the Preview Pane in Explorer views. Installation of the x64Components certainly will not cause you any probems, only benifits. |

RE: Advice please...
Dear shark
I am a powerpoint professional (yes i know!), and I was having a number of video playback and inserting video issues, and for quite a while, but I could work around most of them, eg inserting mpeg2's in ppt files then copying to my pptx file etc... I decided to risk installing your codec pack and replace K-lite and a few odds and sods... at first attempt the install did not work and ppt would not actually play any movies at all inc wmv's!! total disaster!! but i remained calm uninstalled and reinstalled both your 32 bit and 64 bit codecs left at default setting (not using suggested settings (should I?)), and MIRACLE! AMAZING! everything is now playing perfectly! I had to go to SWAP tab and change 'MPEG2 codec in DirectShow Players' setting to 'Use FFDshow's codec' and that got the MPEG 2's playing, and also seemed to get my Canon EOS h.264 mp4 .mov playing properly in media player too?, was always OK though in MPC. Basically every issue currently seems solved! So i take my hat off to you sir, I shall definately be donating and if you were nearby I'd probably give you a big hug and a nice cup of tea. You are the man. Thankyou. |

RE: Advice please...
Yes, probably more pleasurable than the big hug.
You may not fully understand the full implications of this to many powerpoint pro's - video codec problems haunt us, clients can turn up with anything... and don't understand why we can't play a video file that works fine on their childs laptop at home! It can be a little humiliating, so hopefully they will come to your site and solve their .mov mpeg2 playback issues in powerpoint. thanks again. |
