RE: Audio Delay Bitstream vs PCM
I've tested now with media control uninstalled and it made no difference. The problem of audio sync is caused solely by FFDShow as the video codec. I can't drop it because losing subtitles is not an option. Media Control is not so important.
I also tried XBMC with LAV audio/video 32 bit codecs. I gave me everything; good pcm/bitstream audio sync, audio/subtitle choice but for some bizarre reason would not bitstream HD audio. It would strip the DTS core from DTS-HD so is not an option. Unless you know how to fix that of course! |

Since Media Control requires ffdshow, it was the cause. Setting the Microsoft decoder on the H264 TAB will give you subtitles using DirectVobSub (03-07-2012 01:24 PM)rotekz Wrote: I also tried XBMC with LAV audio/video 32 bit codecs. RE: Audio Delay Bitstream vs PCM
Thanks, the MS codec does give subs without the audio sync issues.
I have the choice then of using either; the MS decoder and losing control over which audio/sub streams play. the FFDShow codec and occasionally having to change the audio delay setting when DD+ is decoded to PCM. Changing the audio delay seems to be the lesser hassle so I guess I'll be sticking with FFDShow for now. Thanks for helping explore the options. It is much appreciated. |

RE: Audio Delay Bitstream vs PCM
I didn't know you could do that. Unfortunately directvobsub doesn't seem to work well with all movies.
Changing stream from DD+ to Dolby True HD makes media centre crash. I guess it doesnt like the swap from PCM to Bitstream. If there are multiple audio streams but no subs in a film you don't get the directvobsub icon in the sys tray so can't change audio stream. Selecting the subs doesn't make them display for all films. I need to test this further. So although it works a lot of the time testing briefly tonight there were several films that had issues with it. Media Control seems to be a bit more reliable in operation. |
