Can't bitstream HD Audio

Have been using the codecs for a while and love them but have recently hit a problem.

I decided to get a HD amp and build a new HTPC.

The graphics card is a AMD/ATI HD6450 running on Vista Home Premium x64.

I think i've fllowed the instructions on the site but i can't get it to bitstream HD audio.

If in the FFDShow setting I select all the codecs my amp supports (which is all of them) as soon as i try to play a MKV file (the only files i have which have HD audio) windows media player says it can't play it.

But if i deselect the HD audio's in FFDShow it will bit stream the DTS/DD track fine.

I'm hoping you can help.

go to Control Panel | Sound and set your digital device to 'stereo'

I assume you mean the HDMI output to set that to stero and NOT 5.1,

also, you do have the x64Components installed and you are making these adjustments in the 64bit app.. right?

Yep. Had done that and it didn't work.

And i am making the changes in both the x64 and standard setting and in admin and normal user.

go to the graphics gpu manufacturers website, fill out the info to the right and download and install the latest driver for your system.

The vista install was a clean install only two days ago with the latest drivers off the amd website.

I'll install them again though if you think it will work.

in Control Panel | Sound, you should see and use an AMD device.
And under that devices properties, you should see the HD audio formats

I don't have any of those options!

All I is on the attached pic.

And i've just reinstalled the drivers with my PC plugged into the amp.

OK, then I suggest you try using the Realtek drivers instead of the AMD (audio) drivers.
