Try using Metafox from Shark´s tool page (http://shark007.net/tools.html) to change the file from mp4 to mkv.
Windows 8 x64 / i5 750 / AMD HD 5850 / Benq XL 2410T / MPC-BE / 32bit Advanced Codecs |

be sure you have selected the proper speaker setup in Control Panel | Sound
On the SWAP TAB, disable both of the Micorsoft Audio and Video decoders |

Will disabling those MSFT decoders cause any issues with live tv or recorded tv playback? |

RE: Can't get MP4 to play in surround in WMC but MKV does
Ok I tried both methods and they don't work. The program seems to convert the mp4 to mkv file perfectly and in the properties of the file I still see 6 channel. But it's aac. ac3 6 channel mkv files work flawlessly. Is there maybe a way to convert aac to ac3?
I read ffdshow is supposed to be able to convert the audio through hdmi, but there's no ffdshow option as the codec to use under the mkv tab. |
