RE: Can't get audio to channels working correctly
Thank you for the help, doing only that got me started on what appears to be the correct path for getting my preferred set up. and checking for the firmware update for my receiver was completely unexpected and shows to me you really go above and beyond with helping.
After much playing around, disabling microsoft decoder, using the suggested settings and a few other changes almost all surround 5.1 sounds appear to be getting streamed directly. Only one thing is I was unable to get just normal stereo files to be bit streamed, which is fine I don't think there is a way around that. So I moved onto trying to get stereo only files to expand to surround. I have ffdshow set up to expand with the mixer and it works for mp3's, flac, and other audio files which are played directly. However I had to set the speaker configuration to 5.1 in windows sound settings despite you saying to set it to 2.0, is that going to affect anything. The only thing I don't have working from what I can see are audio files from things such as youtube are not being expanded into surround do you know if there is a different setting for that? And the receiver still gets stuck in 2.0 every so often (pretty sure the problem is from the computer side of things) I'm able to refresh it and get it working again by cycling through 2.0, quad, and 5.1 in the speaker set up with windows sound. |
