DTSHD-MA from MKV
I have been trying to play DTSHD-MA from a blu-ray ripped to MKV. I get DTS sound (1500 Mbps according to FFDShow) using 32-bit WMP. Using WMP64 I see the Haali splitter icon. I get sound here, and I think it sounds better so could possibly be DTSHD-MA, but not sure how to check this to be sure?
But when I try to use Windows Media Center I get no audio at all, but still the Haali splitter icon. How can I play blu-ray MKV rips with lossless sound? I do not bitstream, analog out the soundcard. Lifespeed |

I think WMP x86 is using FFDShow to decode the DTS track embedded, and WMC plays no audio at all. How can I confirm WMP x64 is actually playing the lossless track? I do think I can here a difference, but plain old DTS is not bad so a bit hard to tell for sure. Lifespeed |

RE: DTSHD-MA from MKV
Often, with 64bit MC, you have to disable the Microsoft Video decoder to get it to use Directshow for the audio.
If it is working, your AVR will say so. |

I deal with a multitude of people daily and rarely read back in a thread and assumed you were bitstreaming. I do not know of a way to confirm the lossless track is being decoded in 64bit MC but do know that if LAV audio is doing the decoding, it is most likely decoding the lossless track. If FFDshow is decoding the audio, it is probably only decoding the dts core. If ffdshow is doing the decoding, there would be a tray icon. If there is no tray icon, LAV is doing the decoding. Pressing [Reset All] would ensure LAV is set as the default audio decoder. |

In Control Panel | Sound, properties of the active device, advanced tab, both exclusive mode boxes should be selected to allow the avr to decode the audio

RE: DTSHD-MA from MKV
Thanks for putting this pack together. I'm trying to find a way to play mkv's with dts-ma/truehd as follows: When I'm using hdmi, output the uncompressed, when I'm using spdif output the 5.1 core. I am able to get the dtsma playing correctly through my receiver when I use hdmi. But when I use spdif, ffdshow decodes to stereo pcm. I've searched around but can't seem to find a workaround. It doesn't seem like ffdshow supports output of the core-only in the newer versions but did in the past. There is some indication the perhaps the tryout beta 7 did, not sure if I can use this with shark though. Any ideas? I cannot break livetv. Any help is appreciated.
