Hi,
Great software but i have 1 big problem that i can't fix. This is about 2 groups of video files. 1 working with ac3filter and not FFDshow and the other working with FFDshow but not ac3filter. I find ac3filter has always worked better than FFDshow for s/pdif so i am using that by setting it to passthrough. Then .avi files with ac3audio made with AutoGordianKnot play video but no audio but .mkv (tv shows etc) work fine. I read some posts that said that the fix was to use ffdshow so i reset the setting back to that and yes the .avi files works but now if i try to play the .mkv with s/pdif passthrough on ffdshow it goes to a black screen and will not play at all. If i don't select passthrough i don't get 5.1 sound but the video plays. So i can have my .avi files with no sound but 5.1 on .mkvs or both with 2.0 or .avi with 5.1 but .mkv not working at all. I want 5.1 on both .avi and .mkv can any one help ?? I have tried playing with the settings in both FFDshow and ac3filter but can only ever get 1 file type to work in each. These are examples of teh 2 files types example info of avi file: General Complete name : D:\Media Center\My Videos\Movies [SD]\Addams Family, The [720x400, DD 5.1]\Addams Family, The.avi Format : AVI Format/Info : Audio Video Interleave File size : 1.53 GiB Duration : 1h 39mn Overall bit rate : 2 195 Kbps Writing application : VirtualDubMod 1.5.4.1 (build 2178/release) Writing library : VirtualDubMod build 2178/release Video ID : 0 Format : MPEG-4 Visual Format profile : AdvancedSimple@L5 Format settings, BVOP : Yes Format settings, QPel : No Format settings, GMC : No warppoints Format settings, Matrix : Custom Codec ID : XVID Codec ID/Hint : XviD Duration : 1h 39mn Bit rate : 1 740 Kbps Width : 720 pixels Height : 400 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate : 23.976 fps Resolution : 24 bits Colorimetry : 4:2:0 Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.252 Stream size : 1.21 GiB (79%) Writing library : XviD 1.2.0.dev47 (UTC 2006-11-01) Audio ID : 1 Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Codec ID : 2000 Duration : 1h 39mn Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 448 Kbps Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel positions : Front: L C R, Surround: L R, LFE Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Video delay : 18ms Stream size : 319 MiB (20%) Alignment : Split accross interleaves Interleave, duration : 96 ms (2.30 video frames) Interleave, preload duration : 96 ms Language : English example info of .mkv file: General Complete name : D:\Media Center\My Videos\TV Shows\Sanctuary\Season 2\07 - Veritas.mkv Format : Matroska File size : 1.09 GiB Duration : 43mn 19s Overall bit rate : 3 608 Kbps Encoded date : UTC 2009-11-21 04:03:24 Writing application : mkvmerge v2.9.8 ('C'est le bon') built on Aug 21 2009 13:21:42 Writing library : libebml v0.7.7 + libmatroska v0.8.1 Video ID : 1 Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : High@L3.1 Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, ReFrames : 3 frames Muxing mode : Container profile=Unknown@3.1 Codec ID : V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC Duration : 43mn 17s Bit rate : 3 152 Kbps Nominal bit rate : 3 222 Kbps Width : 1 280 pixels Height : 720 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate : 23.976 fps Resolution : 24 bits Colorimetry : 4:2:0 Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.143 Stream size : 976 MiB (87%) Writing library : x264 core 67 r1153M 7b6ce6a Encoding settings : cabac=1 / ref=3 / deblock=1:0:0 / analyse=0x3:0x113 / me=hex / subme=6 / psy_rd=1.0:0.0 / mixed_ref=0 / me_range=16 / chroma_me=1 / trellis=1 / 8x8dct=1 / cqm=0 / deadzone=21,11 / chroma_qp_offset=-2 / threads=12 / nr=0 / decimate=1 / mbaff=0 / bframes=3 / b_pyramid=1 / b_adapt=1 / b_bias=0 / direct=1 / wpredb=1 / keyint=240 / keyint_min=24 / scenecut=40 / rc=2pass / bitrate=3222 / ratetol=1.0 / qcomp=0.60 / qpmin=10 / qpmax=51 / qpstep=4 / cplxblur=20.0 / qblur=0.5 / ip_ratio=1.40 / pb_ratio=1.30 / aq=1:1.00 Language : English Audio ID : 2 Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Codec ID : A_AC3 Duration : 43mn 19s Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 384 Kbps Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel positions : Front: L C R, Surround: L R, LFE Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Stream size : 119 MiB (11%) Language : English THANKS |

Disable the Microsoft Audio codec on the SWAP TAB.
If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software
Default UAC settings are required for my software to function properly |

I am using windows 7 32bit. so do i tick Disable Microsoft's audio decoder ? as i don't have any option called Microsoft Audio codec. If that is the one won't it break my live tv as per the note ? thanks I found the cause its the Subtitle Control on the config tap. If you set it to "No Subtitles" (which is what i wanted as i don't ever need them) then the .avi files don't have sound. Very strange but there you go. I guess i will have find another way of stopping the subtitles from showing up.

Yes, thats the codec i meant.
I really don't know about it breaking LiveTV; I put that note there to play it safe. I don't have the hardware to test it properly. You can always uncheck it if it breaks livetv to re-enable it when you want to use livetv. If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software

RE: FFDshow / ac3filter s/pdif and video with ac3
Hi,
This is my first post. First, thanks for this great software, Shark007! I love codec packs again! jejeje I had some problems with AC3 in AVI. Then I arrived to this thread, and I have disabled Microsoft audio decoder, and now everything works perfect! Thanks for the tip! I have curiosity... What exactly does the toggle "Disable Microsoft's Audio Decoder"? I have made a diff with two exports from the registry (before and after applying) and found nothing... Can you explain me what it does? Also, I can't test if LiveTV is broken when disabling Microsoft audio decoder, but if someone can confirm it, it will be good to know for the future. Thanks a lot! |
