RE: Firefox Default program settings being wrecked by installer
ok, the version of your codec is not relevant. what is relevant is the version of firefox on a CLEAN install.
These are the precise steps to reproduce the issue with specific versions of firefox. 0. Install windows 7 x64 "Patched or unpatched is not relevant here and i had 7zip installed" 1. Install the any version from FF 5 Beta 1 or higher. "I unticked launch FF for the first time" on each install. 2. Install both packages of the latest shark codec. "In order i did x86 -> x64 Without any 3rd party options enabled" 3. closed FF when opened by the installers. 4. Opened the 32bit gui and allowed it to reset the settings then clicked either Sharks recommended or went to change the file types. "either will cause the issue" Whats messed up is if you come from FF 4.0.1 or OLDER then this issue does not happen. So installing a older version of FF then upgrading seems to remedy the issue/not be affected. now obviously the question is what does this have to do with your codecs... well its the software thats changing the file types in conjunction with certain versions of firefox. thoughts? also when affected if you try to remove the file types then it completely removes FF file types from the default program lists instead of just removing the file types... |
