RE: Firefox Default program settings being wrecked by installer
and yes UAC was enabled off a fresh install for that. if i toggle the previous 2 values as stated before it fixes the "Default programs" issue.

RE: Firefox Default program settings being wrecked by installer
In review of our conversations...
I have no resolution to stop the anomoly from occuring and I still state the FF11 itself, is the cause. Hopefully a firefox update will 'fix' this and prevent it from occuring in the future. |

If you keep the following as a registry file, it will re-instate the proper values on your PC. Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00The 1st line that I added will delete the current key before writing the proper values to the registry. BTW, Registry files should end with a blank line. |

RE: Firefox Default program settings being wrecked by installer
I have the same problem since some time.
It belongs to Firefox and Waterfox on different machines. UAC is always enabled. |

RE: Firefox Default program settings being wrecked by installer
Hi all,
I have the exact same problem in Windows 7 x64 with Firefox 17.0.1 installed (and I had this in my previous machine, as well). The Firefox HTML file icons are replaced with a WMP icon and the Explorer preview pane for the HTML files doesn't work as it should --a windows media player preview handler overtakes html preview. This is extremely essential for me as I use Explorer preview extensively to quickly preview my research html files downloaded from the web. Is there any solution to this? Please help, Best wishes, Emrea |

I dont know how these reg values are being changed.
My software is not doing it, directly. The attached registry file, when downloaded and double-clicked, will fix the issue |

RE: Firefox Default program settings being wrecked by installer
Thank you very much! This works, you just need to assign firefox as the default browser again afterwards (if you normally use it as default).
Your application is perfect and although I am tot that techie, I know that Firefox always had some problems registering itself in windows. It either loses its icons or cannot be previewed properly in the preview pane. I remember reading somewhere that this had to do with the Microsoft Office (Word) html html icon handler component always overtaking Firefox somehow. In some mysterious way, codec installation makes a similar impact. Thanks for your lightning speed response again, it works ![]() Best regards, Emrea |
