HD playback on Netbook?

First off, I consider myself somewhat of a novice here but am trying anyway.


The problem is a common one, I have a netbook, and I have some HD video that I would like to play but the two don't mix.

The details are:

System:

Toshiba NB205
Atom N280
2GB Mem
Intel GMA950


Software:

Shark007 Codec pack
MPC HC SVN (DL'd from "Tools" section)
(Have tried VLC and of course WMP as well)


Settings:

May be too many to repeat.....basically have searched the forums for any posts regarding MP4, MKV and Netbook playback and tried suggested settings. Have tried the "recommended" as well.


Movies:


I am using Ripbot to convert/compress right from a Blu Ray disc to MP4. After forum search I have used Metafox to convert to MKV.



Results:


CPU usage still pegs at 100% and movie playback is of course impaired quite a bit.

Compressing/converting from a DVD using Handbrake results in perfect playback but of course this is then standard def. The larger problem being I have every movie I own already done from Blu Ray and on a home library so I'd love to be able to use those files instead of having to re do them all in a lower res.



If I am SOL just say so and I can live with that but if there may be a way to play these files well I'm all ears! And thanks!

On the H264 TAB, select the LAV codec and then click its [config] button.
In the upper right, change 'None' to Intel QuickSync for Hardware acceleration.

When that option is selected I get "Unavailable" next to it. (I am using Shark007 as Admin...in case anyone was wondering). I do have the latest drivers from Intel.

OK, so the atom is not supported by QuickSync.
There are 2 DXVA options to choose from, give each of them a try.

I'm sorry to say, I've tried my best but it seems you're SOL with this hardware.

No problem. The other archaic notebook I have plays them fine with your codecs so I will live with that. Last issue though.....I figured since half my problems were solved with your codec pack I would donate some to the cause. Clicked the link but no matter what amount is entered I am told to "enter an amount greater than zero". Any idea why? (and yes I was trying to enter an amount GREATER than zero lol).

after entering an amount you need to click [update total]
