I found the bug, please fix it, MKV won't play if I go into settings page
Everything is fine for 2.7.3 etc.
But in 2.9.1, I saw this funny hint "UAC disabled". After I click "Yes", mkv won't be able to tweak to ffdshow anymore. Normally I tweak them by revise registry. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectShow\Preferred In any elder version that I couldn't see this UAC hint, Win7 codecs is perfect for me. But after you suggest "UAC disabled", I think you may did some wrong settings to corrrect a wrong setting and then create more problems. If I didn't click "Yes", everything is still perfect for me. But after I click "Yes", I saw the desktop was refreshed, and then MKV won't work well anymore. Even then I click "Reset All", it won't help. If I revise registry as below, mkv will work well like before. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Multimedia\WMPlayer\Extensions\.mkv] "Runtime"=dword:00000007 mkv was wrongly changed from 7 to 6. If you go into setting page with closed UAC, this bug will happen. Extension divx has the same mistake. |

RE: MKV won't play if I go into settings page
I think Win7codecs won't work properly if UAC is disabled. Anyway, it's not wise to disable UAC completely across the board. A better way is:
Press Windows + R, enter secpol.msc and hit enter Click on Security Settings Local Policies Security Options double-click User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrators in Admin Approval Mode choose Elevate without prompting click ok Now try launching a program that prompted for UAC allowance before. It will now start without asking you for it. Win7codecs will still work perfectly. This leaves Windows 7 User Account Control enabled and tinkers just a bit with some of the settings of UAC instead of completely disabling the UAC function which disables the complete security feature in Windows 7 which is not a wise thing to do. |

Why couldn't shark keep "do nothing" after show this damn hint page? By the way, in a HTPC, we really do not need UAC. Lots of people do not need UAC. |

RE: MKV won't play if I go into settings page
I found the bug, I solved it by myself.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Multimedia\WMPlayer\Extensions\.mkv] "Runtime"=dword:00000007 Shark, it's wrongly given dword value to 6 after user go into the settings page. I think, as a default value, 6 should be for wmplayer default supported format wmv etc, and 7 should be for mkv etc.. But after version 2.8.0, if anybody go into your settings page with closed UAC, win7codecs will automatically change 7 to 6 for mkv. |

WMPlayer none originally support format should be 7 I guess. nice catch! The DivX software is causing it, and my next release will disallow the DivX MF splitter from making the changes you have presented. This is FIXED in 3.0 BETA 4 Thanks for posting. |
