I need a Codec Expert - Nothing works for Nifty Tv
I have been pulling my hair out and fighting with this all day.
I want to watch Nifty TV. Nifty Tv is a streaming video service that uses the Windows Media Player 9 codec pack or Windows Media Player 11 codecs. The service streams the 2010 and 2011 seasons of Arena Football through its player application found here http://www.niftytv.com/afl (and will stream all the games live once the new season starts in a month) It's free if anyone wants to test it with codecs.. install button is on the right hand side. The problem is this player is made to work with Vista (with WMP11 installed), XP (with WM9 Codecs) or Windows 2000. I have Windows 7 64 bit. the player doesn't work under XP mode, I cannot use WMP 11 or the WMP9 codec pack because they don't work with Windows 7. I have tried the popular "Windows Media Codec Pack", the "Windows 7 Codec Pack" and the "CCCP Codec Pack" And of course Sharks Codec Pack. I would have thought at least one of those codec collections would have the right codec. I can get sound but no video. I got it to work great on my wife's XP 32 bit machine with the WMP9 codec pack, but I cannot use her PC for my game watching. Any ideas? Thanks ! - you just might save me some hair. |

Do ypu have nvidia graphics? If so . . .
The nVidia WHQL release 285.62 can cause these problems. go HERE and find 290.36 - BETA drivers for your GPU do not get 295.51 or 290.53 - both of these have issues of thier own. |

It's a laptop with an ATI 4200 HD graphics chip with 336 mb of dedicated ram and uses up to 1.2 gigs of system ram from system ram for video. Edit: I just got an e-mail from a friend who says all he has installed is windows 7 and Media Player 12 and the app works great for him. (I think he has 32 bit) |

I then reinstalled your Win7codecs, and the 64 bit components. I started the Settings Applications 64 by right clicking and letting it reset the codecs. This did not work to solve my problem. I did not mess with any of the default settings. Still no video. It still seems to be a 64 bit configuration problem for win 7. On another partition, I installed a trial version of windows 7 32 bit and the Nifty TV application streamed perfectly off the bat.. er.. this wont last cus it's only a trail version good for 30 days and I am nopt about to buy another copy of windows just for a football media player.
