Intel Atom with Nvidia ION
I was wondering if I could get some help with my setup. I have an Intel Atom with Nvidia ION as an HTPC running Windows 7 - 32 bit and I'm using HDMI for video and audio going through an AVR receiver. My main struggle is how I should setup my audio, I'm fairly certain my card does not support bitstreaming of the new HD audio formats (DTS-HD MA / TrueHD), however I think it does support bitstreaming of other formats because when I have bitstreaming enabled it works (I think), but would it be better if I decoded everything on the computer and sent it that way to the AVR receiver (PCM)? If I did that would it essentially be getting the full audio or not? And if so how would I go about setting this up in the settings applications. Thanks for any help.

RE: Intel Atom with Nvidia ION
I fail to see a playback problem in your post.
stop struggling - there is nothing wrong with the default audio settings. You are getting full audio support already. relax and watch some vids. |

Heh I guess I did forget to mention my playback problems. I have some .m2ts files with the HD audio codecs and I'm not getting any sound.

Ok I will try that when I get home. In order to get the best audio should I be trying to bitstream (sorry I'm new to the HDMI audio)

DTS-HD MA / TrueHD to know, check Control Panel | Sound, with the active HDMI device selected, click properties, click the TAB, supported formats. bitstream = the AVR decodes the audio not bitstreaming = the PC decodes the audio either way, the audio gets decoded and the 'sound quality' is identical. |

RE: Intel Atom with Nvidia ION
I've setup the way you've suggested and I think everything will work except that .m2ts file I've uploaded it to mediafire here is the link I'm just curious why it won't play if I can't get it to work no big deal (I don't think), when I play it in windows media player the video works fine and there is no audio. When I check the properties in WMP it shows nothing for the audio or video codecs.
Should my audio device be set to stereo or 5.1 (5.1 is my current setup) Should my AVR receiver show only PCM or will it show Dolby Digital when it is used I've noticed that when in windows media center my AVR receiver shows PCM with live tv and files without dolby digital, but if the file has dolby that will show on the receiver is this normal behavior http://www.mediafire.com/?ml0pq3q7fhlvw55 |

Most likely your audio setup is causing the problem. On the Audio TAB, press the button [setup LAV audio] and de-selct the 2 HD options under bitstreaming.
