Intel Quick Sync - CPU load too high vs. Win7codecs 3.31
Hello,
First of all excellent job. I'm using it for 2 months (just build an HTPC) and I'm really impresed (I'm considering making a donation soon). Yet I have a small problem. I was using initially version 3.31 and my CPU load with Intel Quick Sync set in ffdshow was between 0-2% when playing an 1080p mkv. However after I have installed the version 3.50 of the codecs pack my CPU load is in avg. around 27-30% and sometimes it jumps to 80-90% for 1-2 seconds. Do you have any ideea what happened. I also have installed another nice add-in: Media Control but it crashes from time to time. I know that is wasn't updated recently but do you think there is any sort of conflicts with Shark's Win7codecs? Thanks for support, IM |

RE: Intel Quick Sync - CPU load too high vs. Win7codecs 3.31
Try using QuickSync through LAV. Select LAV for H264 and then open the LAV video Configuration from the H264 TAB - in the upper right under Hardware Acceleration, change None to Intel QuickSync.
MediaControl is no longer being developed. Its last update was over 1 1/2 years ago. Media Control relies on FFDshow being your audio/video decoder to function. My suggestion above would not allow MediaControl to function. I think I will remove Media Control from my tools page. It was a good piece of sofware in its day, but its day has passed considering the lack of development. |

Thanks for your quick feedback. I will try LAV and keep you posted. Do you recomand anything else instead of Media Control to be able to toggle through subtitles. I've seen another tool on your site:MCErEmotePlus. Would you recomand this as an option?

RE: Intel Quick Sync - CPU load too high vs. Win7codecs 3.31
Hello again,
I have followed your instructions for LAV option but the CPU load is as high as in the case of ffdshow, even the 80-90% CPU load peaks are longer. So I reverted to 3.3.6 (sorry in fact it was not 3.3.1.) and BINGO! I have CPU load again under 3-5% with random peaks of 10-12% for both 1080p mkv and avchd (m2ts from Sony camera). So for the moment I will stick to this version. MCERemotePlus: I was not able yet to make it work but maybe I have selected the wrong keys on the remte...I'm still trying. My aim is to be able to use it in Media Browser. Anyway thanks for your quick support, IM |

RE: Intel Quick Sync - CPU load too high vs. Win7codecs 3.31
Hello again Shark,
Just a quick update: I have installed 3.5.2 and things are more stable now: AVCHD (.m2ts) playback keeps the CPU at 0% with peaks of 2-3% (perfect I might say!!!) while .mkv 1080p with subtitles (ffdshow + Intel QuickSync) stays around 20% with peaks of 30% which I think is due to the fact that I'm loading subtitles. Now to toggle subs. I realized that this is in fact is not necessary - I only need those in my native language so I basically did the following: - in FFDShow I have unticked "give embeded priority over subtitle files" (if you have ext. subs obviously is in the language you want,...) - in Haali I've set the language of subtitles to my preferred one (rum) so now from 18 subtitles of a movie it only loads my native language one. NO NEED anymore for Media Control (very buggy application) or MCERemotePlus!!! NOW this in fact is working only with FFDShow + Intel QuickSync. If I use FFDShow DXVA I'm getting pixellated video on some .mkv also with your codec pack + MCE or in MPC-HC. Regards, IM |
