Is there a Standard Catch ALL group of settings?

I would really like to know how to get full media playback In all of the basic "windows media programs". My computer is the hub to a very sophisticated Entertanment system and multichannel decoding HD playback is crucial. That means up to 7.1 and up to 1080p, with total intergration with windows, thumbnails and all. My system settings are Win 7 ult 64, ATI Radeon HD 5670.

all versions of Dolby Digital and Dts from ac3 to 7.1 96/24 for ALL possible file types.

connected via hdmi 1.3 to and 7.1 receiver that supports all known audio codecs Denon avr-4310ci

current problems:
no standard dts 5.1 on vob files
no DVD playback in Media Player
no time seek/ scan on MKV files in Media pLayer
a host of media center problems
no ac3 playback on downloaded avi files

vob, mkv, m2ts, mp4, avi, ect

FYI - the 64bit app controls Media Center playback
the 32bit app controls most other players such as Windows Media Player
