LAV and CUDA on a headless WHS server
Shark, many thanks for the LAV integration and the CUDA extensions.
I am using a headless WHS server running PS3 Mediaserver and your codecs to serve video (including .m2ts files) to a PS3 media player. I have installed a GTS450 Nvidia graphics card to support cuda processing. I have loaded the 280.26 Nividia XP driver. I can run Settings32 and the LAV cuda settings on the H.264 tab successfully when I attach a terminal. When I run Settings32 headless using MS terminal services the LAV setting is automatically reset to CPU only. If I click on the Nvidia setting the Settings32 application hangs. According to the LAV release notes, LAV 0.8 enables "Support for using NVIDIA GPUs which have no connected display" And as an aside, when I enable LAV audio codecs the sound plays at 2x speed racing ahead of the video. If I substitute Libvacodec audio codecs then everything plays fine. |

RE: LAV and CUDA on a headless WHS server
most likely (and obvious to me), you have already tested this on your own before I released the LAV integrated version.
Your knowledge in this area already surpasses my own. For proper answers, you should take your inquiry directly to the author's development thread on the Doom9 forums. |
