MKV files and PS3 Media Server...
Hello!
I've been using Shark's codec pack for a while (since Vista) and this work flawlessly on my Win7 installation although requiring some modifications. I'm also using the PS3 Media Server and I've had problems for a long time with especially streaming MKV files. The PS3 just says "data corrupt" but the files are fine. Thumbnailing works. I get an error in the log of the PMS about "mencoder return code 1073740940" and investigating this leads in all directions. Some say it has to do with VSFilter as I'm using Avisynth/MEncoder/CoreAVC to stream content which requires VSFilter.dll to be present in the folder of Avisynth. Other says it has to do with some filters still being set to Microsoft but all files plays nicely on the pc. Still others claim I need another version of Mencoder.exe but I've tried several and honestly don't think the problem is with Mencoder. I notice that I have several instances of DirectVobSub and CoreAVC open in the taskbar when I have tried streaming several files. Is there a conflict with the codecs and PMS? Maybe it's just a matter of disabling/enabling something in the Shark codecs. I've already disabled FFDshow with H.264 which is required to make CoreAVC work with Avisynth. Again, no problems in Win7 and very good streaming of 1080p from a NAS. I know this problem is probably PMS related, but other users have succes with CCCP codecs and KLite codecs and I would hate to turn away from the Shark codec pack to get this to work. Anyone knows how Mencoder works with MKVs, Haali, VSFilter etc. so that I can try different settings? MEncoder and MKVs used to work but I think this was before using Avisynth/CoreAVC. Will be happy to post anything related to make this work! Thanks, Søren |

RE: MKV files and PS3 Media Server...
I do not have a solution for you other than to suggest making sure the DivX MKV splitter is enabled on the MKV TAB.
maybe try disabling Subtitles on the Config TAB could help, I really do not know. As for advice, go ahead and try cccp but avoid Klite like the plague that it is. |
