MKV plays first stream, not default stream

I have recently done a rebuild of my main HTPC, and after reinstalling codecs, MKV's will not play using default audio streams, they will always play with the first stream. For example, stream 1 is video, stream 2 is russian audio, and stream 3 is english audio. Stream 3 is marked as default (changed with mkvtoolnix), but both WMC and WMP play the russian audio.

This was not the case before the rebuild, and does not occur on either of my other 2 machines with sharks installed.

I had been running an earlier codec build, and tried rolling back to an earlier build (2.4.9 which works correctly on my other PC's). This initially worked, and the correct stream was playing, but after a reboot the incorrect stream is playing again.

I know I can select the stream using Haali in the system tray, but this means grabbing a keyboard every time.

set Haali as the splitter on the MKV TAB
access Haali splitter button on the Config TAB
under options/languages... set eng

This happens regardless of the splitter, if you have not disabled LAV-Audio under "Settings -> Audio"!
The default audio settings for Haali- or LAV-splitter not work with LAV audio, at least not in stereo playback (HDMI or PC-speaker audio)!

Thanks this did the trick. Setting the language for Haali did not make a difference.

Any idea why this has not occurred before on other PC's or before this rebuild on this PC?

The default audio works for me in German with Haali splitter and LAV, if the LAV audio decoder is not active.
   
In the tested version 2.4.9 of you, there were no LAV components in Shark007 and there has been sufficient to configure only the Haali splitter.

OK, that makes sense, thanks.

One last thing, and I suspect it might be related. External subtitles as .srt work fine with my files, but internal subs will not show even when set to default in mkvtoolnix. This does work on my PC's with older codecs, but not on this one with the latest build.

*Edit: internal subs will play when set as default, but not when set as forced, which does work on older builds.

Shark007 not like it when the DS-Filter Tweaker is used, therefore, my settings with DSFilter-Twaeker not present here, as they will then be "castrated" by Shark007.
