MKV plays in WMC on desktop, no video through extender
I've been trying to get my mkv files to play on my xbox 360.
On my desktop computer, they play perfectly with subtitles and correct video/audio. The files are H264 video packaged in mkv. When I try to play the files on my xbox 360, I only get audio. The screen says buffering, but after that is finished the screen remains black with the audio playing. Any ideas what could be the problem? Thanks you. |

RE: MKV plays in WMC on desktop, no video through extender
On the MKV TAB, uncheck the box disabling the DivX MF splitter
If it is unchecked already, re-check and then uncheck it again. |

Should I be changing the settings in both the 32bit version and the 64bit version? I've only been changing them in the 64bit version. |

RE: MKV plays in WMC on desktop, no video through extender
the 64bit app is the only thing that will affect Media Center and ultimately xbox playback.
When unchecking the box that disables the DivX splitter on the MKV TAB it should auto enable the Microsoft decoder on the H264 TAB. Even though it is already selected, click on the Microsoft selection on the H264 TAB. Another thing that can borg mkv playback on the xbox is the inclussion of subtitles within the MKV file. To know the contents of the MKV there is a button on the Misc TAB to [Analyze a media file] |

It is possible though that the subs are burnt into the video making them part of the video and not a separate stream within the MKV. Try rebooting your PC and the xbox to see if that will fix the fact that files are not showing up. |
