MP4 with no audio on WMP12

[MANGUSTO]

I have shark007 suggested settings checked (for both 32 and 64 bit codecs) and I use WMP12 as default player.

When I play Mp4 files (hd 720p) I have no audio and WMP says, in the left corner at the bottom of the player something like "excessive web traffic to play the file at the original quality".

With VLC it plays well so is a codecs or WMP12 problem.

How can I solve it?

Hi and thanks for Shark007 codecs pack. However, I have the same problem with MP4 playback. Disabling the SWAP in 32bit and 64bit made no difference. Any advice be much appreciated - thanks

most likely your problem is that your MP4 has a wrong file extension.
on the Misc TAB, use the button to [Analyze a media file] on your MP4
post that output here

Thanks for quick reply - heres the file details, but the issue is same for all my MP4 files. I did a quick test and renamed a few as MKV or AVI and they then play fine. Sadly don't really want to rename the hundreds I have.

I think I just solved it - so will test within MCE also now.

I read another web page about your codecs and found its recommended not to use the 64bit WMP so I switched back to the 32bit and seems to be solved. I will confirm once checked a good few files in WMP and MCE.

Most likely problem, (derived from the partial posting)
you have disabled UAC and this fact is the cause of your issues.

Seems problem was me using the 64bit WMP. All files playing as expected with audio now using 32bit WMP. Thanks for the help.
