MPC-HC "Player" woes
Hi2all,
I realize this site is principally dedicated to making better use of Windows players and Media Center through Shark007's excellent codec packages and settings app(s). And so it has in my case; thanks to shark007 & Co., WMP12 now is able to play back almost everything I throw at it ![]() However I noted that shark007 also "sells" MPC-HC as an alternative, so I am taking the liberty to ask about my MPC problem here on this site. Long story short, MPC-HC just won't play anything properly on my setup Regardless of container or codec or decoder or x86/x64 versions, MPC-HC suffers from drop-outs in audio and frame-loss. Regardless of the version I use, be it the last "stable" version, the last SVN Beta version, complete default settings, or Shark007's configuration, the result is always the same (read: bad).I even tested MPC's own decoders with WMP12 which worked fine. Conversely, using FFDshow decoders with MPC did nothing to help the situation. WMV9 encoded video is about the only format that MPC can play back without dropouts*. *Speaking of which, the only drawback I've noticed with Shark007 codecs is that WMV9 does not seem to be hardware accelerated (DXVA), but that's a topic for another thread... These dropouts btw correlate to DPC latency spikes which, when using MPC, average over 20ms. Before anyone asks, no these spikes are not connected to any specific "Device" as I have pretty much the problem even when disabling every non-essential device, including on-board audio... . My setup consists of: Intel SU4100 1.3GHz dual core "CULV" Intel onboard (GS45) 4500M HD graphics (DXVA "ready") Windows 7 HP x64 Shark007 x86 (v236) & x64 (v240) codecs WMP12 x86 & x64 versions MPC-HC v1249 "stable", v1557 SVN, and Shark007 edition. MPC cfg: default / Ranpha's / Shark007's Given all the above, all comments / suggestions & own war-stories would be very welcomed
