New Release: 3.0.1 Beta 2
Good Evening Everyone,

Here is the first beta since the previous full release.
I've implemented two feature requests: Support for Comic Book files,
and the ability to disable the video reel border around video thumbnails.

The Comic Book support should work with just about any comic book file,
even cb7 with webp files.

With that said I haven't added property support for Comic Book files yet,
mostly because I couldn't find an "official" specification for how these files
handle metadata.

FFmpeg has been update with quite a few large changes, so let me know if you
find any regressions in this release.

Finally, Japanese localization has been added to Icaros, thanks to Donkichirou.

Enjoy the new release! ;)

[Icaros v.3.0.1 Beta 2]

- Comic Book files can contain any kind of image format (jpg, png, gif, webp etc)
- Added Japanese localization (Thank you Donkichirou!)
- Added option to enable/disable video reel thumbnail border
- Improved mkv handling slightly
- Updated FFmpeg

Thanks a lot, gonna test it.
Btw since you added Comic Book files support, why not adding PDF support also?

Excellent! ^__^

Adding PDF and PSD is definitely something I would love to do,
unfortunately the Adobe formats are quite complex and requires a lot of time to implement.
And the existing image libraries out there, that are capable of decoding these formats
are a bit too large to add to Icaros for just 1 or 2 additional filetypes.

With that said it's something I'm continuously considering.

bump for exposure! :o

Released Beta 2 to fix the 32-bit version of Icaros.
It threw an error about missing a dll component.
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Strange behaviour detected with beta2 on my computer (Windows 7 x64, Aero disabled)
There is no any visual defects with Aero theme enabled.
Stable v3.0.0 have the same bug.

It looks ok when I run app:

After switching to another app and back again to Icaros:

Works perfectly for me... I had custom extensions so I just added cbr;cbz;cb7 to the list and boom! Comic covers...

Now I can unstall the CBX Shell abandonware!

Thank you very much!

Hi Xanashi

I got the Icaros cache to work with Windows 10 but I don't know how. LOL I don't know if it is because I installed beta 2 or what happened. Now the Windows thumbnail cache can get deleted and then the Icaros cache comes to save the day. Smile Finally!

There is one other thing I don't know if I'm doing wrong, if I add cache locations and click "Rebuild cache" then the Icaros cache gets deleted and rebuilt from zero with only the cache locations, losing the Icaros dynamic cache I had before grown up. Is there any way to add the cache locations without losing the dynamic cache? Something like add this folder or hard drive to the Icaros dynamic cache I already have without having to browse the folder or the hard drive one by one?

Optimfrog Thumbnail Support

Thank you Xanashi, for all the improvements you've made to Icaros over the years.  I figure you've already had to do some workaround to make property pages work for .ofr and .ofs files; as these aren't natively supported by the FFMPEG libraries.  (The bitrate displays really big numbers, but the APE tag support handles the metadata fine.)  Would thumbnails for Optimfrog audio files be something that could be made to work, now that there is 64-bit Optimfrog support...albeit closed source?
I can confirm that the borders act up when using IcarosConfig on Win7 with aero disabled.
I'll see if I can find a solution, but it may be a bug in the way that Windows renders its windows,
and in that case there probably isn't a way to get around it.

That's great to hear! I hope everyone in the comic book community can get good use out of it! :)
Let me know if you run into any problems.

Bruce Wayne,
That is great news! Glad you got it working without reinstalling.

I'm currently working on several improvements to the IcarosCache, that should make it more simple and rewarding to use.
I'll see what I can do about keeping the dynamic cache intact during rebuilds, while I'm at it.

I wouldn't mind improving the Optimfrog support. The property handler doesn't use FFmpeg, only custom parsers, so I should be able to
fix most property related issues. Unfortunately I only have 3 ofr/ofs files atm, so my testing is kind of limited.
I don't suppose you have a couple of sample files I could borrow? :)

Thumbnailing of Optimfrog files should already be supported, but again I don't have enough samples to make sure that it works.
