No Audio with Bitstreaming

I've got an HTPC hooked up to an HDTV via HDMI cable and I'm trying to play an mkv file but there is no audio when True HD/DTS or AC3/DTS are selected. The only way I get audio is if I turn bitstreaming off - here are the details of the mkv file:

birstreaming = decoding takes place on an external device such as an Audio/Video receiver
your TV cannot decode the audio so you MUST turn off bitstreaming to allow the codecs to decode the audio
