RE: No surround sound from mkv, [RESOLVED]
Thank you very much! Now it works in Windows Media Center, but not in Windows Media Player. Is there something I can do to get it work in both applications?

RE: No surround sound from mkv, [RESOLVED]
I don't know if my settings are the best but I'm using same as input (default) in audio tab. I didn't disable the Microsoft Audio Decoder but I did disable the divX media foundation splitter in MKV tab and I'm getting correct spdif surround sound sound for everything. When using SPDIF I'm pretty sure volume control within media player will not work. That's just the way it is I think.

I have installed the most recent versions of both 32 and 64 bit Win 7 codecs. I have Dolby digital output in VLC (i don't use Media Player) but not in Windows Media Center. DVDs are decoded correctly and the Dolby Digital is output. Any assistance would be appreciated. |

That had no effect but I then unchecked Disable XviD Decode and checked Disable AC3Filter on the config tab and I now Have Dolby Digital in all programs. Thanks. Love your codecs - first thing I install when installing windows!! |

RE: No surround sound from mkv, [RESOLVED]
Hey Shark,
First of all thanks for all the hard work so far. Second, I upgraded to newest codecs (first uninstalled both) and have now lost surround sound in W Media Center (only get stereo). I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Win7Codec 2.62 x64 components 2.66 A/V thru HDMI I have no issues in WMP plays in 5.1 surround when I set to FFDshow passthrough as suggested. I leave everything else alone. I do the same for the x64 components and all I get is stereo. I run as admin, then restart as user. I tried tweeking the swap options. No success. One interesting thing I noticed was that is when I run the movie in WMP I get FFD show and DirectVOB in taskbar. However when I run in WMC i don't get either of those loading. I tried disabling Microsoft Audio in the SWAP tab with no success. I think in older versions I had AC3 filter running in taskbar when I ran movies in WMC. Everything was working fine before my upgrade, so I uninstalled and installed the older versions and I'm having the same problems. I know these codecs are buggy, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, HiNeems |

RE: No surround sound from mkv, but same DVD has surround
(02-18-2010 09:07 PM)Shark007 Wrote: x64 users, Do the following instruction in BOTH applications. Shark007, My WMC PC running on WIn7 x64 told me I had a codec issue after media browser locked up a couple times watching bluray mkv's. I decided to update both (32 and 64 bit) versions of your codec packages. I use an optical cable out of my PC into my 5.1 receiver with DTS and DD5.1 capability. I uninstalled both versions before updating. After the update, I no longer had digital audio, so I tried your suggestions. The digital audio works fine after trying the AUDIO, MKV and SWAP tab suggestions. With these current settings, the audio on my analog TV channels is a loud shrieking static kind of sound. If I undo the MKV and SWAP tab settings, everything is OK. Can you help me please? |
