RE: Problem with PCM Audio & 5.1 Surround
I just tested the sample I uploaded on my computer at work which has Realtek HD onboard audio, same problem.
This has to be a bug with the codecs or a configuration issue. When I install the Skark007 codecs the only settings I change after the install are: MKV tab: LAV Splitter h264 tab: LAV Video - in the video configuration of LAV I set the hardware decoder to NVIDIA CUVID and the RGB output levels to TV (16-235). Audio tab: Setup LAV audio or I have also used MKV tab: Haali Splitter Video tab: Use FFDShow codec Audio tab: Disable LAV Audio Is there anything else I should be changing? |

X-FI sound cards are for a gaming PC just fine, but no use for a Windows 7 Media Center HTPC.
I use an onboard Realtek ALC 889 or ATI HDMI sound with HD 5570 (HDMI 1.3) and HD6320 (HDMI 1.4a). Unfortunately, I can only output in stereo, but even with no TrueHD and DTS-HD codec problems playing. My settings with FFDshow DXVA or FFDshow video decoder, can be found here. AMD A6-3650 with HD6530 graphics * XP MCE 2005, Windows 7 x86 + x64 + 8 x64 * PowerDVD 12 + 13 |

I went with an Auzen X-Fi HomeTheater HD sound card for my media center pc as I do occasionally game on this pc as well. The X-Fi cards combined with the logitech z-5500's sound pretty good. I will eventually upgrade to a good receiver and speaker system it's just not affordable for me at this time. I'll give your codec settings a try soon as I get a chance. |

RE: Problem with PCM Audio & 5.1 Surround
I found the problem!
It was in the audio tracks.... I use MakeMKV and Pavtube ByteCopy to rip movies to mkv. At the time I ripped most of my collection I remember there was some serious bug with MakeMKV and PCM so I purchased ByteCopy just for ripping movies with PCM audio tracks. Well it seems there must have been a bug in ByteCopy as well. Today I re-ripped Gone in Sixty Seconds, once with each program and both played perfectly... Looks like I'm off to re-rip several movies! |
