RELEASED DirectVobSub x64 v2.37
![]() A new x64 pack has been releasesd for Windows 7 users. Windows 7 users will be quite happy to see a stable release of x64 VSFilter.dll It is not enabled by default in this release. Please remember that to enable it, you need to start the Settings Application using Run as administrator. I'm hoping the feedback of this poll will be good enough to make it the default subtitle renderer for x64 users. Be advised, it is of no use to ask for a more recent version. They will not compile for x64 with the current code. If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software

RE: RELEASED DirectVobSub x64 v2.37
Please, could you explain how to use VobSub ?
I have disabled h264 codec to use current Windows 7 codec, disable ffdshow subtitles, but nothing. Thanks for your help. Edit : Sorry, I had the 1.1.4 version, not 1.1.5 ! My computer : Windows 7 x64 build 7077 (RC-Escrow) |

RE: RELEASED DirectVobSub x64 v2.37
Ok, it's work perfectly, no problem with all my MKV (with a lot of effect like Karaoke). You can use it by default
![]() The last problem is MKV thumbmails, always not generated on Windows 7. |

RE: RELEASED DirectVobSub x64 v2.37
I added a small screenshot to the 1st post.
Thanks for the positive feedback so far. I wasnt sure what the results of this release would be in the wild. Although it worked OK in my testing, I do not own a full battery of possible subtitles to render and test with. By releasing it set to 'not default' I am avoiding any possible crashes that may occur. Barring any crash scenario's it most likely will get set to default in upcoming releases. If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software

RE: RELEASED DirectVobSub x64 v2.37
Works great so far! Haven't encountered any problems yet. Good work!
Edit: Maybe I spoke too soon. I just tested some hd-material with embedded font and it seems like both the positioning and font style in the x64 environment are somewhat different from the (original) 32 bit. (See the example below.) I tried reversing the settings back to ffdshow, but it was still the same. So I am not sure if DirectVobSub even have anything to do with this. It's not really a problem and only a bit annoying, and it can probably be solved with some manual adjustments, even so, I thought you should know. Speaking of manual adjustment, I tried configure the font in DVSub, but when I got into "Text settings" and pressed the font button, DVsub crashed saying "DSconfig stopped working". (See the example below.) The difference between this x64 release and current 32bit releases is most likely the fact that this version was compiled using 3 year old code written by Gabest himself. The current code stems from the MPC Homecinema project and cannot be compiled for x64 platforms. I am unable to reproduce the error "DSconfig stopped working" but do know where it is coming from and how to fix it. Only problem with the solution is, it won't be fixed until the next release. My main motivation with this release was the fact that Windows 7 users were not getting any subtitles at all in MediaCenter. At least now they have subtitles WITHOUT hacking the operating system If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software

RE: RELEASED DirectVobSub x64 v2.37
Thanks for the quick reply!
Well, that explains why the version number was decreasing ![]() But I'm glad you are preparing for windows 7. I will join you with windows 7 x64 beta as soon as I find a dusty enough laptop worthy of the task. I just, by coincidence, reproduced the "DSconfig" error. I had to reinstall VCP because of a playback problem which, in the end, was unrelated to your package. After reinstalling, the problem was gone, but reappeared when I was doing some more tests with the 1080p hd mkv from before. Just to let you know. But I hope your solution works fine without more troubleshooting. I will try configuring the subtitles and post feedback if I come by an easy way to adjust them. Thanks again for all your work Shark! Btw. you wouldn't by any chance have some experience with the playback options in mpc hc; EVR and VMR9 (renderless), and their differences. The above mentioned playback problem was caused by EVR. VMR9 resolved the problem, but EVR is the default renderer and is supposed to be better, even though I can't see why? OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64

RE: RELEASED DirectVobSub x64 v2.37
Forget the hoopla about this is better that is better. If you video plays and you arent needing to squint to see it,
I figure all is good. Enjoy the video. I know nothing of those settings (EVR VRM9) even though I am a regular reader of the Homecinema forum. I honestly have to say, when the video plays, i am pleased. Before I started creating these packs I struggled constantly just to get proper playback. I used to use that K-crap. It was my inspiration to create my own WORKING codecpack. I began to share it with family and a few friends. The friends started shariing it on the net and I started making public releases. VCP was born. If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software
