Current releases of the codec packages include a Settings Application.
It will provide you with an 'easy to use' interface to the codec installation. Anytime you make an adjustment using Administrative privileges it is REQUIRED that you re-open the application as a user afterwards to have the settings transfered to the user account. Concerning S/PDIF, digital, optical and HDMI: The administrator and a regular user are different users and each must setup the Audio TAB for FFDshow pass-through. Concerning Windows Vista, and Windows 7 . . . I've come across several issues with UAC and the registry in these operating systems. Until now, the Settings Application would request full administrative rights upon openning and the user would click OK and the app would run and do its thing. All seemed well, but it wasn't. By innitiating the application with full admin rights, the 'common' users registry settings were not being applied/modified by the application and instead, the settings were only being written to the adminstators registry. - The headache begins here . . . To solve the issue I present above, I had to remove the full administrative rights request upon openning the application and have it be openned as a 'common' user so that the registry settings would be applied to the users account. - The headache grows stronger . . . The above resolve is not a perfect world for this application. The application needs administrative rights to perform the functions of changing splitters used for specific filetypes. so . . . depending on your needs of the moment, you will have to rightclick the applications shortcut and choose Run as adminstrator, to have the app change the splitter for specific filetypes. You will probably find all this a bit annoying but this isnt a perfect world. For those that have multi user setups - these changes were mandatory. By the way, for those of you that turn off UAC, expect some aspects to fail. UAC IS A REQUIRMENT TAKE NOTICE: anytime a feature is added or removed from the settings applicatiob you will be required to re-save your settings on the MISC TAB to add/remove the feature in question. The Settings Application continues to be a work in progress, Do you want a feature changed? added? removed? It only takes seconds to register on this forum . . . and be heard. ******* These releases will not function outside of an official installation ******* UPDATED RELEASES: ABOUT support for Blu-ray disk playback. Support for Blu-ray disc playback works ONLY when using MPC-HC acquired from my Tools page. To playback a Blu-ray Disk, You will 1st need to load a decrypter program such as AnyDVD. To enable the playback go to the MPG~MP4 TAB (MPEG TAB for Vista Users) and select Gabests Blu-ray splitter. Then using MPC-Homcinema from my Tools page, go to the file menu, select 'open DVD...' and browse to the Drive containing the Blu-ray disk. Download the Win7codecs - - - Download the Vista Codec Package - - - Download the x64 Components TO ALL THAT PROVIDED VALUABLE FEEDBACK DURING INNITIAL DEVELOPMENT - Thank You for the assistance. I'm still open to suggestions of improvement but doubt I will need further beta releases to implement them. If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software
Default UAC settings are required for my software to function properly |

I am not releasing them separately because the demand for them is quite low. The devs are working to correct it. Hopefully for the next release they have it solved. You can use the 32bit settings app to turn off Thumbnails because thumbnailing is a systemwide setting and not restricted to the platform. If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software

RE: Settings Application Development
(You will probably find all this a bit annoying but this isnt a perfect world. For users that are administrators (probably all those in this thread testing this app) simply running it as administrator all of time will suffice.)
HI shark my account is a administrator so do i still need to click run as administrator? as when i click this UAC comes on and asked me if its ok. so was just curious since my account is a administrator will it make any difference? |

RE: Settings Application Development
Yes. you will still need to rightclick and choose, Run as administrator to use several of the functions of the app.
Only if UAC is turned off will that need be bypassed. If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software
