OK, i have obviously seen the many many posts about MKV's and XBOX 360 extenders. And i have it working, but that isn't the problem. I more or less have a question. The files play no problem, my issue is with the quality. The MKV's play seamlessly but they look like i recorded them on a VCR and converted it to beta then to DVD its just horrible. I'm wondering if there is something I'm missing. I have tried about every setting under the sun and from what everyone says online SHARK is the best. Thanks!!!!!

Lets get started.

Clean House:

First thing is first Uninstall EVERYTHING in your system related to Codecs that isn't Microsoft factory install.
This includes LAV filters, Haali (Matroska splitter), FFDshow, CCCP, K-Lite etc.

DO NOT install anything from DivX - It will break PC playback.
DO NOT install AC3Filter - It will break PC playback.

I find out my biggest issue was GOMplayer. It installed codecs. badddd player.


Install: - DOWNLOAD URL's
Here are the Win7codecs and for those with 64bit, the (x64Components addon)
and here are the Windows 8 Codecs and for those with 64bit, the (Win8x64Components addon)
The Windows 8 Codecs are a stipped down (lite) version of the Win7codecs (full). They are interchangable on Windows 7/8 systems.

Settings
First I chose to Reset just because i had been trying about every configuration under the sun just to see what sharks codecs can do so i wanted to make sure it was set to Sharks Default settings. After the program has finished doing this reset, select the [x] SUGGESTED settings checkbox, then...

on the MKV TAB, be sure this box is checked
[x] Enable DivX Media Foundation splitter

NOTE
The Xbox Extender HATES switching between MKV files at a rapid rate. i have had issues with my Xbox and computer when i switch between files. it seems to not close out of the current stream and cause playback issues. i just restart when i have issues like that and then we are back in business.

90% of my mkvs files play with this configuration. Bitrates above 15 and files with HD audio are problematic
