Today's Codec releases are split back into 32/64 bit?

I went to Majorgeeks.com and I noticed this:

Are your codecs split into 32 and 64 bit versions again? Or is this a mistake?

And more importantly, how are you doing? It's been a while since I've posted here, two years in fact, and I asked you the same then with good word. Hope things are still going well.

You would need to use a 64bit player to access the 64bit(only) codecs that you installed.
i recommend that you use the 64bit version of MPC-BE, downloaded from my Tools page.

hmm, the x64 standalone still sets wmp32 as default though, shouldn't it auto to the 64 player then.
i went back to the 32/64 advanced pack meanwhile.

The operating system sets the 32bit WMP as the default player.
My codecs give you the option of setting the 64bit player as default through the 64bit Settings Application.

what i ment was, if you install the x64 standalone, the x64 should set 64bit player automaticly, cus... well whats the use of it anyway unless u manually set it to 64bitplayer.

I know what you meant, but...
I prefer to leave Windows 'as-is' and provide a simple GUI for people to be able to take control of their system as they wish.
I am not into forcing my, or your opinion onto anyone.

I upgraded the STANDARD codecs on my 64bit Surface Pro 3 two days ago and only the 32bit codecs got updated. I had to download and install the 64bit standalone to get that updated as well. I know for a fact because when I ran the 64bit settings application, it was still the previous version. It got updated when I installed the standalone.

I thought you said this WASN'T going to be the case...
