Trouble with playing .MOV
Hello, I want to ask for some help to solve a problem with playing .MOV files generated by my digital camera Nikon Coolpix L3.
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate with the latest version of Shark007 Windows 7 Codecs. I have been using Shark007 for Windows 7 since I switched to Win7, ~6 months ago, and no other codec/codecpack is installed. I have a lot of these .MOV files (mostly clips of my daughters) which I would like to be able to watch in Windows Media Player 12 - like all other video content. When MOV playback in the Settings application is set to Gabest's Splitter (Default) WMP12 does not recognize the video at all, although I see thumbnails of the files in WMP12's library BUT NOT IN WINDOWS EXPLORER. In Windows Explorer I see thumbs for any video file, just not for these. When I selecet "Set MOV for Camera Vids", WMP12 plays the files but there is no sound. When I try these files in VLC, all is working fine - but I would not want to stick with VLC as default player because of poor subtitles handling (no vobsub). To be even more bizarre, Picasa (?!) playes the files just fine too. Can you somehow help me to get complete video+audio for these videos in WMP12? If possible, how to generate thumbs for these files in Windows Explorer too? I swear that these files were working several months ago, when I was using Win7 RC and an older version of Shark007 codecs with "Set MOV for Camera Vids" - but not anymore. I also remember having thumbs for the files in Explorer - but not anymore. I hope I am not a pain in the a** and would really appreciate your help, since I have not been able to solve this by myself and Google. I am also pasting results from the option "Analyze a media file" in Settings: General Complete name : C:\Users\Starter\Videos\Jana Videos\2009-08-26_18-19-34.MOV Format : QuickTime Format/Info : Original Apple specifications File size : 18.5 MiB Duration : 18s 233ms Overall bit rate : 8 517 Kbps Movie name/More : NIKON DIGITAL CAMERA Encoded date : UTC 2009-08-26 18:19:34 Tagged date : UTC 2009-08-26 18:19:34 Writing library : Nikon Origin : Digital Camera Video ID : 1 Format : M-JPEG Codec ID : jpeg Duration : 18s 233ms Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 8 426 Kbps Width : 640 pixels Height : 480 pixels Display aspect ratio : 4:3 Frame rate mode : Constant Frame rate : 30.000 fps Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.914 Stream size : 18.3 MiB (99%) Language : English Encoded date : UTC 2009-08-26 18:19:34 Tagged date : UTC 2009-08-26 18:19:34 Audio ID : 2 Format : PCM Format settings, Endianness : Little Format settings, Sign : Unsigned Codec ID : raw Duration : 18s 233ms Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 64.0 Kbps Channel(s) : 1 channel Sampling rate : 7 875 Hz Resolution : 8 bits Stream size : 140 KiB (1%) Language : English Encoded date : UTC 2009-08-26 18:19:34 Tagged date : UTC 2009-08-26 18:19:34 Thank you and stay well. install QT Lite and see if this fixes the problem.
If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software

RE: Trouble with playing .MOV
Quicktime pro cant play the files?
If your goal is to play the files in the windows players, uninstalling quicktime may be all you need to do. Of course you would still need to select the camera splitter. If you're an iTunes user, QT Lite would fill in the gag left by uninstalling The official player. If it is still a no go, then install QT Lite and try all splitters under the MOV TAB If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software

I don't use iTunes, so I will try this immidiately. (02-06-2010 08:42 PM)starterz Wrote:(02-06-2010 08:39 PM)Shark007 Wrote: Quicktime pro cant play the files? Hm, I uninstalled Quicktime Pro, restarted Win7 (just in case) - still no sound in the .MOV clips. I will install QT Lite right now, and try all splitters as you suggested. Thank you again for all suggestions. In the province of the mind, there are no limits. |

Damnit :-( No, with QT Lite installed, the same thing: WMP12 is not recognizing the files with default/haali splitters, and there is still no sound when Camera Vids is selected. I am eagerly waiting for that last suggestion, thank you. In the province of the mind, there are no limits. |

RE: Trouble with playing .MOV
remove QT Lite since it isnt helping.
actually 2 things yet to try . . . Set the camera vid option because it gives you video. On the Config TAB, click on the FFDshow Audio button, scoll the rightside to the bottom click on disabled next to Uncompressed, and select, all supported Apply/OK... test If that didnt work, set it back to disabled, On the Config TAB, uncheck disable AC3Filter Click the AC3Filter config button next to that In this interface are tabs across the top, click on System place a check in the box for PCM, click apply/OK... test If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software

As for the thumbnails for the files in Windows Explorer, do I need to somehow regenerate the thumbnails cache for them to become available? Thank you again and stay well.
