True HD freezing on fast forward
All
Have been using the codec pack for ages-its excellent. i am running windows 7 with the x32 pack. I can play everything in windows media center and get true hd and dts-ma. The problem I have is with true-hd tracks. They play fine but if i try and skip forward in the movie it freezes and does not resume. I am using the recmmended settings but have switched to lav for the hd audio. all else works fine including dts-ma and I can skip forwards and backwards with no problems. Can anyone recommend a fix? Please let me know if you need more info. Thanks! David |

RE: True HD freezing on fast forward
On the Audio TAB, click the button to [setup LAV audio]
click the Formats TAB uncheck [] truehd Doing the above should allow ffdshow to decode truehd test |

RE: True HD freezing on fast forward
Unfortunately, that just turned my true hd sound to 2 channel stereo! I went into the ffdshow audio setup and ticked true-hd pass through but that didnt work either. An thoughts?
Further to my post above, the issue seems to be associated with certain files. For example, with Batman Begins, using lav, it plays fine and I can skip forward with no issue. With 300, I can skip forward 30 seconds at a time using my remote but if I try and scan forward 5 minutes or more, it freezes. Also, if I try and jump forward 30 seconds repeatedly, everything freezes (like its overloaded). Skipping forward more than a little seems to freeze everything. Any ideas as to what might be causing this with lav? David |

RE: True HD freezing on fast forward
Thanks. you may be right. I'm only using make MKV to do the ripping process however.
I was testing further yesterday and I realised, on your fix, that it was not defaulting to FFD show audio as predicted ie there was no icon displaying FFD show audio that could be selected in the bottom right hand corner of my Windows screen. Is there any reason why FFT show audio is not being initialised? Many thanks for your continued help. David |

RE: True HD freezing on fast forward
I am away from home and responded from memory.
I will need some time to do proper testing.... sorry this wasnt the answer you seek. ETA is 2 weeks, or more, but I will do some testing within the next 48hrs. |

RE: True HD freezing on fast forward
Testing completed.
The 'freeze' is caused by an improper setting in Control Panel | Sound and you need to make sure the proper hdmi device is selected there. Anytime you disconnect/reconnect the hdmi device you need to check that setting. That setting auto switches upon disconnect but doesnt always switch upon reconnect. If it is correct, follow these steps press [Reset All] MKV TAB, set LAV as the mkv splitter Audio TAB, select the TrueHD setting test |

RE: True HD freezing on fast forward
Thank you for your response. I haven't altered the hdmi setting in control panels in ages and have not disconnected anything but will of course check the setup.
Otherwise, I'll test the settings you recommend and see how I go. Greatly appreciate the continued support! David |
