RE: Uninstalling of v. 3.7.3 not possible
*sigh* Besides running Windows, my system should be fine.
Is it possible to get an older version for both components, 3.7.5 for example? A quick search on MajorGeeks did show only the most recent version. |

RE: Uninstalling of v. 3.7.3 not possible
Thank you.
Last question for today: Every setting set by running the config tool is saved in the settings64.ini? And running the config tool afterwards without admin rights, this file is read by it and everything is set up as configured in this file? |

RE: Uninstalling of v. 3.7.3 not possible
1st of all, is 375 working correctly? I ask because 376 was compiled on my laptop while away on holidays.
Where-as, all other releases are compiled on my dev desktop. This could be the difference and the cause of your issues with 376. (a visual record for the application) Manually editting the ini file will change what you see in the app, but in reality, nothing will change. When the tool is ran without admin privileges, it reads from C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Shark007 The administrator is not the user. For instance, the administrator can setup different audio settings than the user within the app. The Administrator's registry HKCU is different from the users HKCU. When the administrator makes a change that absolutely required Admin privileges to do it, the settings are written to both the Admin and the users HKCU, and also both the Admin and the users ini files. This is unique to my application and to the best of my knowledge, no other tool of any kind is capable of writing to both HKCU's. Of course, this only applies to the logged in user and not to other users of the system. For other users, there is a button on the Help TAB to bring them up to speed with the settings. |

RE: Uninstalling of v. 3.7.3 not possible
I tried running 3.7.5, but nothing changed. As soon as I change something, I can not close the window. The only change possible so far, seems to be disabling the check for new versions. I can tick the box and close the tool.
Just a little note on my setup, I have 3 users at the moment. User A as a normal user, auto login enabled with no admin rights. Under this user I am running my HTPC stuff. User B as an administrative user. I usually login as this user through RDP and configure the codecs. Of course with admin rights, through right clicking and running as administrator. On user A, I start the application without admin rights and hit rebuild user account. User C is yet another user without admin rights, not important for the setup. I rarely login in as this user and codecs are not configured for this one. This setup worked for several versions for codecs and I did not change much recently, besides the usual Windows and Adobe Flash updates. Regarding my other question, I am trying to configure the codecs on another Windows 7 VM and copy back the settings ini. Rebuilding the user account is still working for me. Simply copying the settings64.ini from the ProgramData folder is not enough, because the registry is changed at the same time? |
