The bottomline, to use MediaControl, FFDshow needs to be decoding all Audio/Video/and Subtitles.
Please UNINSTALL previouse versions - I am not a fan of 'upgrade' installs and do not test these scenario's. Any installation, be it an upgrade or clean install resets all settings anyway. Version 343 is being released with the absolute latest avialable version of ffdshow. I have supported my releases with the same enthusiasm as you have experienced for the past 6 yrs.
