I've tested a few video playbacks including 10-bit videos, and they seem to work just fine. What's the point of the x64 component pack, just for thumbnail generation basically, right? Assuming I don't use 64-bit players... Something definitely seems to be wrong with the newer versions of the thumbnailing software. If you're not experiencing it, it may be a Vista thing you've overlooked testing on W7. |

RE: Vista x64 Explorer Thumbnail Crash
Please try this:
Quote:For testing, could you try uninstalling Shark's codecs, and install the standalone version of Icaros, It's the only way we can know if it's related to Icaros (in Vista) or not. OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 |

(04-30-2012 03:56 AM)Xanashi Wrote: Please try this: After uninstalling all Shark007 and using the standalone Icaros installer mentioned earlier, thumbnails do not cause crashes and work as previously in 2.8.8 (except actually, 1 extra video shows thumbnail now that did not previously). Zero crashes. And actually, if I add ".avi" to the settings app and activate, then all thumbnails show perfectly (not just some, ALL), and zero crashing. Perfect. So I assume it's some problem with the latest x64 component. Maybe it doesn't install Icaros properly or something? Seems that the thing to do for the time being for me will be to install the latest Vista pack, but omit x64 components and simply use your standalone Icaros for thumbnailing. edit: Just as an update, I re-installed the latest Vista pack and did custom install, disable "Thumbnail views" (not sure if I needed to, but I didn't want to risk it), while not installing the x64 pack, and leaving your standalone Icaros, and everything seems perfect for me now as far as I can tell. |

I'll take it up with Shark, as soon as he feels up to it. It's probably something trivial. If you don't use any x64 players (like WMC), this would be the way to go for now. You just confirmed it, as well. Thanks for testing! ;-) OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 |

RE: Vista x64 Explorer Thumbnail Crash
Glad I could help! My problem is solved too, so consider it a little quid pro quo.
