Volume in Live TV one level

If I watch live TV in windows media center the volume is one level. Turning the volume up or down no difference in sound

To be able to control the volume from the PC rather than from the amplifier (avr) when using digital output (hdmi), go to the 'Control Panel | Sound' applet and double click the active digital output device. Go to the Advanced tab and uncheck the two Exclusive Mode boxes.
