Hi.
I just noticed that I can't play .mov files in WMP but Nero Showtime can. Also no thumbnail for the .mov files even though thumbnails are enabled in VCP (default). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm running on Vista Home Premium SP2. Thanks in advance, Cheng |

RE: WMP won't play MOV
Hi cheng,
Try this: 1. Open the Settings Application, and go to the MOV~OGG tab. 2. Set the MOV Playback option to "Set MOV for camera vids" (this option uses Nero's Splitter to handle your mov files). This might work. As for the thumbnailing, do the following: 1. Open a command prompt, as administrator (found in the accessories folder, in the start menu). 2. type Regedit and press enter. 3. Now go to this key --> HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mov\shellex\{BB2E617C-0920-11D1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1} 4. Take a look in the right-side window, is there a value, like this: {c5a40261-cd64-4ccf-84cb-c394da41d590} ? 5. Report your observations back here. OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64

RE: WMP won't play MOV
@ Xanashi
.......thanks for your reply and a working solution. I just needed to set the MOV Playback option to "Set MOV for camera vids" A registry modification wasn't necessary anymore as the thumbnails showed up after applying the changes mentioned above. Thanks again very much, your help was very much appreciated....... Cheng |

RE: WMP won't play MOV
I have Windows 7 Home Premium x64 and can't get WMP to play MOV using the suggestion above in either the 32 bit or 64 bit WMP. No thumbnails either, although the registry entry listed above was the same as mine.
Any suggestions? |

If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software
Default UAC settings are required for my software to function properly |
