Warning for Avidemux + Conversions
Basicly i recently found some bad issues with Avidemux v2.5.6
And yeah i already knew of many bugs lol Its notorious for them especialy with anything other than avi's Ok so here is what i was doing.. I had "acquired" many TV shows online from well known sources they are all 720p with AC3 6 channel audio and i only have a 2 channel amp. So I wanted to convert my files audio streams from 5.1 to 2 channel stereo and while i was converting i also switched the codec to AAC. I thought this was fine and all seemed well but i gradually started having problems over time and it took a while for it all to sink in and actually test what the problem was.. The problem is after doing that start up and seek times are horrible ! and it gets worse and worse depending on the run time. The problem is almost un-noticable at 15 minutes and at 30 its starting and at 1hr or 2hrs run time the problem is shocking and infuriating ! I also noticed that the only files GraphStudio and GraphStudioNext will NOT open are these problem files i converted. So to sum it up i was having some long run time videos that were taking ages to start up and when i skipped ahead etc in WMC / WMP on Win7 with x64 codecs the crap would stall out for a while and then start stuttering etc, making the video almost unplayable. So i hope i saved some people some pain but warning you before you go and convert a ton of videos lol And i said NO when it would ask me if i wanted to use the safe mode for x264 but that was only because i was using the video in copy mode (no changes) with MKV's Its also funny how Avidemux can make an .mp4 but if you try and open it Avidemux crashes on the video it 'IT' made lol And i have tried the beta's too and it almost seems worse and the codec list is a mess too Sadly i'm losing faith in this program ![]() I've noticed many other bugs too but this is getting long enough
