Win7 x64 mpg problems....
I recently rebuilt my HTPC, adding an SSD as the boot drive with a clean install of Win7 x64. I cannot get WMC to play mpeg files, either on the PC or with extenders. Everything plays fine through WMP and also using the 'render' button of Shark's codecs, but when played through WMC, I get a crash (on PC) or a black screen with 'buffering' displayed in bottom right corner of screen (on extender). Nothing has changed on my system, (other than the ssd) and I made sure to copy all the settings from my previous install of Shark codecs with no luck. If I boot into the old install, the mpgs play just fine on everything. I have also tried resetting Shark codecs to default (on both x86 and x64) and completely uninstalling both, all to no avail. Sure could use some help with this, I'm at my wits end, as is my wife, since most of the files that won't play are hers...

RE: Win7 x64 mpg problems....
Is it possible that you have the SSD partitioned with GPT, then there could be such or similar problems?
And have you already the FFDshow MPEG-2 decoder under "Settings ->MP4~MPG" tested? AMD A6-3650 with HD6530 graphics * XP MCE 2005, Windows 7 x86 + x64 + 8 x64 * PowerDVD 12 + 13 |

I uninstalled/reinstalled Shark x86 and x64 with only default install settings and I am now able to play mpg on PC through WMC. Still no luck with the extenders though, just get a black screen. I don't see a setting for FFDShow MPEG-2 under Settings ->MP4~MPG. I am using Shark Win7 v3.6.0. |

RE: Win7 x64 mpg problems....
Never mind. I reverted back to versions 2.78 (x86) and 2.81 (x64) and the problems disappeared. I assume it had something to do with the UAC requirement of 3.60, which I'd rather not deal with.
