Win8 CP DVD playback

Is there anything I can do with current version (1.0.2) Win8 codec settings to get Win8 CP Media Player to play DVDs /.vob?

It seems as though DVD playback is not supported by WMP in Windows 8.
Open Media Center and under Movies, choose play DVD

Thanks - hadn't realised WMC would play them. Open with WMC doesn't work though - will be interesting to see how this pans out for final release.

Media Center worked here.
another option would be to install MPC-Homecinema from my Tools page - it also plays them.

Aye, Media centre fine here as well - only if you go through movies though (as you say). Right click a .vob within windows explorer and go open with... WMC doesn't work - weird.

As ever, VLC plays everthing.

MPC-Homecinema from my Tools page will play everything AND use the installed codecs to do so.

Sorry to bump this tread,
but since the MPC-HC light (without the MPC filters) is used on the Tools page, it is not possible to play DVDs in the non-PRO version of Win8. Is it possible to add this filter?

no. If the Win8codecs do not meet your needs, install the Win7codecs instead.
set ffdshow for mpeg2 on the SWAP TAB to solve your issue.
