Windows media center will not play some AVI files - Windows 7
With this codec pack, plus the x64 components, I can play pretty much every format of video on my computer using WMC, even MKV, which surprised me. Unfortunately, I have quite a few AVI files (All of my firefly collection and an entire season of house), which don't seem to play and just return the message 'Cannot play video: Media center cannot open this file'. I've googled everywhere, but there' nowhere that tells me why I can't play these bloody stupid files. I scanned them with gspot and the only difference I saw between the two that don't work and the one that is was that the non-working ones had a constant bit rate, whatever that means, and the working ones had a variable bit rate.

Oh yeah, it sometimes also plays about half a second of the video before displaying the error, making me think that maybe it's just media center really not wanting to play it.

RE: Windows media center will not play some AVI files - Windows 7
in the x64 settings application, go to the AVI TAB and choose gabests splitter.
If that doesnt do it for you, go to the SWAP TAB and select FFDshow for XVID If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software
Default UAC settings are required for my software to function properly |

And you would like me to figure out how you managed to break your system?
On the Misc TAB, use the button to rebuild the Library. If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software

In about 10-20 minutes, MajorGeeks will be posting 32bit version 236 and x64 version 240.
Install these new versions, and you will have the new features. remember: do not attempt upgrading, to uninstall you MUST use the button on the Help TAB. If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software
