Xbox360 Playback Problem
I have a problem with the Shark 007 Codec, I'm using it to playbak video on my XBOX trough Windows Media Center, it plays every file well except for the BlueRay rip of The Walking Dead Season 1. If I play this the screen lags after 4 seconds and only the audio keeps playing, the video is hanging on one frame. It plays well on Windows Media Center on my PC.
I used the Analyze a media file-function in the x64 settings application and I got this: General Unique ID : 179637669181098129998900569397132242048 (0x8724F4E526E2E47B9B4EE36F0C1FAC80) Complete name : C:\Series\The Walking Dead\Season 1\The Walking Dead - S01E01 - Days Gone Bye.mkv Format : Matroska Format version : Version 2 File size : 2.65 GiB Duration : 1h 7mn Overall bit rate : 5 651 Kbps Encoded date : UTC 2011-02-24 23:41:08 Writing application : mkvmerge v4.5.0 ('Speed of Light') built on Feb 1 2011 02:10:32 Writing library : libebml v1.2.0 + libmatroska v1.1.0 Video ID : 1 Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : High@L4.1 Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, ReFrames : 5 frames Codec ID : V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC Duration : 1h 7mn Bit rate : 5 011 Kbps Width : 1 280 pixels Height : 720 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate : 23.976 fps Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.227 Stream size : 2.29 GiB (87%) Writing library : x264 core 114 r1913 5fd3dce Encoding settings : cabac=1 / ref=5 / deblock=1:0:0 / analyse=0x3:0x113 / me=umh / subme=7 / psy=1 / psy_rd=1.00:0.00 / mixed_ref=1 / me_range=16 / chroma_me=1 / trellis=1 / 8x8dct=1 / cqm=0 / deadzone=21,11 / fast_pskip=0 / chroma_qp_offset=-2 / threads=6 / sliced_threads=0 / nr=0 / decimate=1 / interlaced=0 / constrained_intra=0 / bframes=3 / b_pyramid=2 / b_adapt=1 / b_bias=0 / direct=1 / weightb=1 / open_gop=0 / weightp=2 / keyint=250 / keyint_min=23 / scenecut=40 / intra_refresh=0 / rc_lookahead=40 / rc=2pass / mbtree=1 / bitrate=5011 / ratetol=1.0 / qcomp=0.60 / qpmin=0 / qpmax=69 / qpstep=4 / cplxblur=20.0 / qblur=0.5 / ip_ratio=1.40 / aq=1:1.00 Language : English Default : Yes Forced : No Audio ID : 2 Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Mode extension : CM (complete main) Codec ID : A_AC3 Duration : 1h 7mn Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 640 Kbps Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Bit depth : 16 bits Compression mode : Lossy Stream size : 307 MiB (11%) Language : English Default : Yes Forced : No Text ID : 3 Format : UTF-8 Codec ID : S_TEXT/UTF8 Codec ID/Info : UTF-8 Plain Text Language : English Default : No Forced : No I also analyzed a BlueRay rip from Breaking Bad Season 1 that plays well: General Unique ID : 224153341644944086523307085295444746925 (0xA8A25CFFF938F002AAAA636D51C6E2AD) Complete name : C:\Series\Breaking Bad\Season 1\Breaking Bad - S01E01 - Pilot.mkv Format : Matroska Format version : Version 2 File size : 2.65 GiB Duration : 58mn 6s Overall bit rate : 6 517 Kbps Encoded date : UTC 2010-03-09 19:46:53 Writing application : mkvmerge v3.1.0 ('Happy up here') built on Jan 19 2010 12:09:24 Writing library : libebml v0.7.9 + libmatroska v0.8.1 Video ID : 1 Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : High@L4.1 Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, ReFrames : 5 frames Codec ID : V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC Duration : 58mn 6s Bit rate : 5 012 Kbps Width : 1 280 pixels Height : 720 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate : 23.976 fps Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.227 Stream size : 1.98 GiB (75%) Writing library : x264 core 88 r1471 1144615 Encoding settings : cabac=1 / ref=5 / deblock=1:0:0 / analyse=0x3:0x133 / me=umh / subme=7 / psy=1 / psy_rd=1.00:0.00 / mixed_ref=1 / me_range=16 / chroma_me=1 / trellis=1 / 8x8dct=1 / cqm=0 / deadzone=21,11 / fast_pskip=0 / chroma_qp_offset=-2 / threads=12 / sliced_threads=0 / nr=0 / decimate=1 / mbaff=0 / constrained_intra=0 / bframes=3 / b_pyramid=2 / b_adapt=1 / b_bias=0 / direct=1 / wpredb=1 / wpredp=0 / keyint=240 / keyint_min=24 / scenecut=40 / intra_refresh=0 / rc_lookahead=40 / rc=2pass / mbtree=1 / bitrate=5012 / ratetol=1.0 / qcomp=0.60 / qpmin=10 / qpmax=51 / qpstep=4 / cplxblur=20.0 / qblur=0.5 / ip_ratio=1.40 / aq=1:1.00 Language : English Default : No Forced : No Audio ID : 2 Format : DTS Format/Info : Digital Theater Systems Codec ID : A_DTS Duration : 58mn 6s Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 1 510 Kbps Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Bit depth : 24 bits Compression mode : Lossy Stream size : 627 MiB (23%) Language : English Default : Yes Forced : No Text #1 ID : 3 Format : UTF-8 Codec ID : S_TEXT/UTF8 Codec ID/Info : UTF-8 Plain Text Language : English Default : No Forced : No Text #2 ID : 4 Format : UTF-8 Codec ID : S_TEXT/UTF8 Codec ID/Info : UTF-8 Plain Text Language : French Default : No Forced : No Menu 00:00:00.000 : en:01 00:04:07.080 : en:02 00:16:07.216 : en:03 00:31:41.149 : en:04 00:48:30.658 : en:05 00:57:12.262 : en:06 I use the default Shark007 settings. |

RE: Xbox360 Playback Problem
The only suggestion I have for xbox playback is to enable the DivX MF splitter on the MKV TAB.

RE: Xbox360 Playback Problem
I do not own an xbox for testing, therefore have no other ideas.
It is well known that mkv's with subtiles or dts audio are problematic on the xbox but you seem to state that this works OK for you. I would be afraid to suggest anything to you since you already have something working on the xbox that no one else does. |

RE: Xbox360 Playback Problem
On the Config TAB of the 64bit app, try enabling AC3Filter (just a guess)
Next thing to try, use this special edition of MetaFox to remove the subtitles. After extracting the contained files from the download, drag n drop your files (any file, vob, mkv etc) onto Metafox.exe it will write a new mkv without subtitles using the original audio/video streams |
