access rights issue
Hi, I'm confused by the access rights issue in Win7 (and "recommended settings").
As far as I understand some settings have to be applied as user and some as admin but how can I distinguish between them? Are these already marked by "run as administrator"? Also when I use the button for your recommended settings the application will change various settings. Do I have to do this twice - as user and as admin? Do I need to check the button ("use recommended settings") in the 32bit and 64bit apps seperately or could I just do this once just in the x64 application? Thank you for the new release. |

RE: Settings Application Development
The only settings in the application that need to be applied as a 'user' is the speaker configuration.
One user could select 7.1 while another user may be using headphones. the 32bit settings application controls 32bit codecs used by 32bit players.(example: default WMP) The x64 settings application controls x64 codecs used by x64 players (example: Media Center) you cannot use the SUGGESTED settings as a user. The application wont allow it. A message box will popup telling you that admin rights are required. This message box is prevalent throughout the application. If you turn off UAC, you can expect to have problems that I cannot resolve. For such people, I suggest some less intuitve (archaic) codecpack would suit them better. (any other codepack will do) In my opinion, turning off UAC is an archiac action. Learn to deal with it, live with it, and get on with life. If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software
Default UAC settings are required for my software to function properly |

RE: access rights issue
Thank you! I do use UAC, I got used to that in Linux.
![]() Sorry, I forgot about the message box. I toggled the suggested settings both in 32bit and in 64bit, now they're both checked. |

I had to toss that in there because it sounded like you weren't seeing any message box when selecting the shark007 suggested settings which would indicate that UAC was off.
