mkv .sub evr custom v .ts evr

x64 win 7 system on suggested setting having followed the setup guide playing in mpc-be x64.

MKV files with embedded subtitles play find using evr-custom, where .m2ts files lock-up mpc-be and struggle to play; selecting evr (non custom) .m2ts play fine, as to mkv, but subtitles are not displayed and the menu option for subtitles is greyed out.

Is there a way to get both working - I've tried the setup guide and all realistic combinations of subtitles, h264, and .ts settings in the x64 app - that is, working .ts playback with the same settings as subtitled mkv playback in mce-be x64?

Thanks, this is maddening as I've had it working before but a re-installation caused me to lose my settings as there's no save settings function.

In mpc-be's options? Everything there is untouched as default, and they're all ticked. I've just tried unticking everything, no difference.
